Bill Judge of the Mizuno Hawks (Ill.) writes to say that Alexis Rogers, a 2017 Utility, has verbally committed to the University of Tennessee Martin.

Says Coach Judge: “Alexis is a tough competitor, she swings the bat real well, hits for power, and is one of the smartest baserunners we have. She has tremendous arm strength and is just an all-around great kid.”

News out of the Virginia Glory organization:

Andrea Davis came up big in a win over a powerhouse opponent.
Andrea Davis came up big in a win over a powerhouse opponent.
— Glory Gold sophomore pitcher Andrea Davis led her high school team, Chopticon High (Morganza, Md.) over Northern (Owings Mills, Md.) to end Northern’s prolific 77-game win streak. Northern was ranked No. 4 in the FAB 40 preseason rankings and are six-time MD Class 3A defending state champions after going 23-0 last year. The loss was the first career loss for pitcher, Jess Cummings (2014, Penn State).

— Glory Gold pitcher, Ashley Flesch (2014, West Chester University) flirted with a perfect game to lead Lake Braddock High (Burke, Va.) over Bishop O’Connell (Arlington, Va.).

The Knights’ lone hit came in the final frame on a misplayed ball to right field.  O’Connell pitcher, Erin Sweeney (2015), also on the Glory Gold, pitched an excellent game as well giving up just two runs.

Erin recently committed to Mount St. Mary’s.

O’Connell was the No. 15 ranked team in the nation last season in the Final FAB 50 ratings and has won 18 of the last 20 VISAA State Championships.

Abby Tincher (2014; Liberty University), younger sister of pitching great Angela Tincher, led James River High School over Alleghany with a 17 strikeout, two-hit complete game.
