A second-inning home run by junior Bella Bacon nearly was enough to secure a victory for the No. 15 Nebraska softball team against Baylor at the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California.

The Nebraska softball team opened the 2025 season with three consecutive wins, before running into a couple of ranked buzzsaws to close out the opening weekend of play.

Now that the Duke softball team has been to the NCAA Women’s College World Series, anything less than another trip might feel like a letdown for the Blue Devils.

It could be argued that no one in college softball had a better offseason than Nebraska. Mainly because of one program-changing player.

FloSoftball will be streaming all eight fields from Huntington Beach Sports Complex from July 27-30 and from July 30-31 we will stream the Platinum Championships. Every year since 2011, the weekend following the NCAA Division I Women’s College World Series marks the pilgrimage of some of the top travel softball teams in the country converging in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to compete in the Annual Tulsa Elite Summer Invite. That first year, 16 teams took to four fields, and today the event has grown to become one of the nation’s top recruiting events of the year. From Wednesday-Sunday, well over 100 college coaches attend the tournament held at Arrowhead Park, offering a single 12-field complex allowing for maximum exposure.

Following the announcement of the Texas Fastpitch League, the Heart of America Elite Fastpitch League (HFL) made a similar announcement that will include club softball teams from 21 states.

Analiese Raley from Clovis, Calif. is one of the top catchers in the 2018 class and will be on the field this weekend as her Dirt Dogs-Harger 18U team will be participating in the Dirtdogs/Team Mizuno Fall Showcase.

The 18-Under and 16-Under ASA/USA Softball National Champions were decided on Saturday in Salem and Hillsboro, Ore.
