Recruiting News & Notes (7/10)

A lot of commitments are starting to break now as players are getting seen, especially at the mammoth Colorado events last week.

Here are updates on some of the recruiting info that’s crossed our desk in the last week!

*** Thanks to Coach Frank Arcuri of the Gold Coast Hurricanes 16U-Arcuri team who wrote to tell us that 2017 infielder Taylor Bump has committed to Michigan.

Taylor is a 5-foot-10 shortstop who’s an outstanding hitter–she batted .557 with 44 hits and 36 RBI this along with seven homers this year – and helped Canterbury (Fla.) win its second consecutive Class 2A state title.

The Crusaders should be good for the next several years as another 2017 player, catcher Danielle Romanello, committed to Florida last year.

As for Michigan, Taylor told the Tampa Bay Times: “The atmosphere (at Michigan) is credible. The support they have is amazing. Also, when I went to the campus for the first time I received that warm and fuzzy feeling that felt like home. The softball program is incredible and the coaching staff is down to earth and so well known.”

“The coaches really care about the person you become while you are there,” Bump said. “They don’t base everything off of talent. I love that. The best part, though, is when Hutch (Head Coach Carol Hutchins) said to me, ‘You aren’t just a part of Michigan for four years, you’re a part of it for life’.”

Taylor was All-State as an eighth grader and is a star in the classroom too with a 4.5 GPA.

*** Got a note from Jennifer Wullenweber, the mother of Tayler Wullenweber letting us know that the 2016 second baseman on the Cincy Static ’97 team committed to Purdue on Sunday (July 6).

The infielder attends East Central High in St. Leon, Ind. where she was an All-Conference pick as a sophomore this year.

We did a profile on her in December after she filled out one of our Player Submission Form. Below is the profile we did at the end of last year:
