While the 2025 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge will include 10 premier softball programs, only one hails from the ever-growing Big Ten Conference – Indiana.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass today named Shonda Stanton as the new head coach of the Indiana Softball program. Stanton comes to IU from Marshall where she served as head coach for 18 seasons. At Marshall, Stanton became the winningest coach in program history with 560 victories and has posted 12 seasons with 30 or more wins.

Today we meet a player from the Midwest who had a big summer, leading her club team to the ASA Metro championship and hitting seven home runs in major tournaments including Boulder IDT.

Today we head to Southern California to spotlight a talented pitcher who’s in the 2018 Hot 100 and after a strong summer reached her No. 1 goal by committing to Notre Dame.

Our nation’s holidays play host to some great softball events and tournaments. The July 4th holiday weekend has become known for great softball in Colorado (as well as fireworks and celebrating our nation’s independence, of course!) and the Labor Day holiday weekend may very well become another fun fastpitch weekend, especially in the Midwest.

In February, ASA/USA Softball announced it would be launching a new event, the USA Softball Junior Olympic Cup, which kicks off next Monday July 26 and will run through Saturday, August 1.

It was another exciting year of high school softball across the nation going back to the fall when states like Georgia, Missouri and Oklahoma competed for state championships.
