The No. 7-ranked Florida State softball team picked up four additional student-athletes for the 2014-15 season during the spring signing period the Seminoles announced today.

Amy Szymanowski, a junior transfer from the College of Central Florida, along with incoming freshmen Meghan King, Sienna Surber and Heather Hendricks will participate with the Seminoles this fall.

“I am excited to bring these girls into the family and incorporate them into what we are doing here at Florida State,” said head coach Lonni Alameda. “Amy will look to bring experience to the Noles right away from her decorated JUCO seasons and Meghan will be well prepared to compete coming off a successful high school campaign. Sienna is very athletic and will have the opportunity to grow in a very competitive team environment and Heather is going to help the program on and off the field.”

— Szymanowski, a native of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., spent the past two seasons at the College of Central Florida and was a standout catcher and shortstop. She garnered NJCAA First Team All-America honors in 2014 as she batted .381 with 22 home runs, 59 RBI and 65 runs scored in 61 games as the Patriots advanced to the NJCAA Championship game before falling to Angelica College, 8-5.

She allowed just 10 stolen bases on the season as the Patriots’ catcher and had at least one base hit in 46 games of the season. The junior transfer holds single-season and career home run records at Central Florida and also earned second team NJCAA All-America honors as a freshman in 2013 when she hit 16 home runs with 47 RBI while batting .343.

— King comes to Florida State from Parkland, Fla., where she helped guide St. Thomas Aquinas to back-to-back FHSAA Class 7A State Championships in 2013 and 2014. The left-handed pitcher posted a 20-2 record in 2014, along with a 0.25 ERA, 226 strikeouts against just 19 walks to earn Gatorade Florida Softball Player of the Year honors. She also recorded 15 shutouts and three no-hitters, including one perfect game, during the 2014 season en route to being named a StudentSportsSoftball.com First Team All-American.

— Surber travels to Tallahassee from Jackson, Mich., after a solid high school career for the Jackson Vikings. She was named first team All-Conference for three seasons and also earned All-Area Dream Team honors in 2013 and 2014. The utility player batted .542 with 64 hits, 53 RBI and 49 runs as a junior and was also a perfect 15-for-15 on stolen base attempts.

— Hendricks played catcher and had a great 2014 season for the Baldwin Indians in Baldwin, Fla. She had a perfect 5-for-5 day at the plate with four runs and two RBI on March 13 as the Indians defeated Edward H. White by a score of 19-11. Hendricks also earned her team’s Offensive MVP as well as All-Conference accolades during her senior campaign. She played for the Plantation Pressure Gold travel team and was the valedictorian of her high school class.

These student-athletes join six others – Jessica Warren, Korina Rosario, Morgan Klaevemann, Megan McReynolds, Savannah McCormack and Katie Baker – as newcomers to the Seminole softball team. The fall season is right around the corner and these young players will look to help Florida State improve and prepare for the upcoming 2015 season.
