It’s been a while with all the events taking place over the summer, but we’re going to get back to doing a weekly Recruiting News & Notes section with tidbits on top players and happenings in fastpitch.
If you’d like to submit info, be it commitment news, players to watch, outstanding performances, or other relevant recruiting news, send to: brentt.eads@flosoftball.tv.
This week, we have some players to watch for this week at the PGF Labor Day Showcase and also have a lot of verbals including a big 2019 commit and one for the same class to watch…
***
One player whose recruiting stock will likely blow up in the next few months is 2017 infielder Brooke Langston from Plantation, Fla.
A two-time FloSports All-American, she helped her high school team, American Heritage, win a Florida 5A state championship as a freshman and come in second this past spring.
Brooke hit .540 and went 25-for-25 in steals, leading the team in most every offensive category. She also had a strong summer for the Gold Coast Hurricanes batting .585 and recording 30 steals without being thrown out once.
This weekend she’ll be playing with the Jersey Intensity at the PGF Labor Day Showcase and just returned from a camp last weekend in Chattanooga where she was watched by schools like Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Florida State, Kennesaw State and South Carolina.
Brooke’s also had a lot of camp requests from programs including Oregon, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, UCF, South Carolina, Alabama, Ole Miss, FIU, FAU, Boston College, Colgate, University of Charleston, Dartmouth, Bowling Green and others.

Rylie Boone, a 2019 outfielder/lefty pitcher who just started at Tulsa (Okla.) Edison High has just committed to Oklahoma.
Boone picked the Sooners over Oklahoma State, Kansas, Tulsa, South Carolina, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Oregon State, and many other top programs according to Jeff Filali, who runs the Tulsa Elite program… Rylie plays for the Tulsa Elite ’00-Jacks 14U team.
We profiled the team in May and Coach Frank Knight gave us this “scouting report” on Rylie then:
“Rylie is an excellent centerfielder with exceptional speed, range and has a great arm. She pitches in the high 50’s with a great change up. Rylie also slaps and hits well with speed to burn on bases. She steals a lot of bases and is very athletic and produces in clutch situations. She is receiving a lot of Big 12 and Top 25 interest already.”
One other interesting note: her brother Trevor is one of the top baseball players in the 2016 class and is committed to Oklahoma State.

Speaking of 2019 standouts, remember the name Alyssa Garcia.
She’s being talked about as one of the top catcher/corner infielder of the freshman class and this year lit it up at combines and then hit close to .500 for one of the top club teams in the country, Firecrackers Thornberg/Brashear.
Alyssa is a tall left-handed batter with natural power to all sides of the field and scouts say she has one of the strongest arms in her age division.
She has multiple offers from Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC schools and last week took an unofficial visit to UCLA and is scheduled to visit Oregon and Washington next month and possibly Michigan and Florida in October.
Alyssa is currently a freshman at Mater Dei Catholic in Chula Vista, Calif.

Another player we’re looking forward to seeing this week at the PGF Labor Day Showcase is Jenny Bressler, a member of the 2018 Hot 100 list.
A versatile pitcher and infielder, last summer (2014), she went 36-9 with 287 strikeouts and a 0.77 ERA while batting .364.
As a freshman this past spring, Jenny helped lead her team to the Michigan Div 1 quarterfinals finishing 30-5 with a 17-0 record in conference play. Her team won districts and regionals.
She started the season playing right field, second base, and was the No. 2 pitcher behind a four-year senior starter, but by mid season took over the #1 pitching spot.
In her first varsity start, she threw a no-hitter on her way to earning All-Conference, All-District and All-Region honors. Jenny finished the season with 15-2 record and an ERA of 1.46, striking out 118 batters while only walking 27.
Both losses came against state Final 4 teams with one of them going 8 innings before losing 1-0. At the plate she batted in the No. 2 spot with a .463 average and in 130 plate appearances she did not strike out once.
The current sophomore continued her strong play in travel ball. Playing for the Michigan Pride 00 team she pitched in 27 games and went 18-4 with a 1.02 ERA.
At ASA/USA nationals in Virginia her team finished in 5th place out of 127 teams and had three complete seven-inning game shutouts with a 0.65 ERA.
This fall, she’ll be playing for the Michigan Finesse 16U team and this fall is also plaing high school volleyball.
A 4.0 student, she’s currently ranked 1st in her class of 541.
Jenny is still drawing interest of schools from conferences like the Big Ten, Pag-12 and SEC because of her spin and location complemented by a good rise ball. Currently, she is uncommitted.

Finally, here’s something you don’t see every day… the North Carolina Challengers Premier team, coached by Adam Renzi, has eight players who are seniors and are all going to the same university: Appalachian State!
