The No. 12 Florida State softball team picked up an 8-0 redemption win over No. 4 Oklahoma State on Saturday to close out the first of two weekends at the 2025 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

Jason Michael Brainard, age 52, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021. Jason was born May 29, 1969. His first job out of college was in Law Enforcement starting with Pontiac Prison and then transferred into Law Enforcement with Livingston County Sheriff's Department in Pontiac, IL. While working for Livingston Police Department, Jason coached Flanagan High School football and worked for Flanagan school district. Prior to becoming Federal Security Director, he completed Air Marshall Training in New Mexico.

Every year since 2011, the weekend following the NCAA Division I Women’s College World Series marks the pilgrimage of some of the top travel softball teams in the country converging in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to compete in the Annual Tulsa Elite Summer Invite. That first year, 16 teams took to four fields, and today the event has grown to become one of the nation’s top recruiting events of the year. From Wednesday-Sunday, well over 100 college coaches attend the tournament held at Arrowhead Park, offering a single 12-field complex allowing for maximum exposure.

During a recent staff meeting, Oklahoma State Director of Athletics Mike Holder was discussing the school’s spring season and the uncertainty that’s expected to come with it. At one point, he said something that particularly resonated with head softball coach Kenny Gajewski and his assistant coaches.

At 15, Birmingham Thunderbolts shortstop Tallen Edwards already knows as much about running a business as many adults. She didn’t have to look far for a successful blueprint. Her father Larry is a private hitting instructor, while her mother Pam has owned a commercial cleaning business with her brother for the past 20 years.

OKLAHOMA CITY – A full week of action came to a close for teams competing in the 2020 USA Softball GOLD National Championships as Hotshots Premier Nelson was crowned the Champion in the 16-Under division (Broken Arrow, Okla.), while the Birmingham Thunderbolts raised the Championship trophy in the 18-Under division (Oklahoma City, Okla.).

OKLAHOMA CITY – With double-elimination bracket play well underway for both the 16-Under and 18-Under divisions at the 2020 USA Softball GOLD Nationals, a number of teams inch closer to a spot in the Championship finales, set for Saturday at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City and Arrowhead Park in Broken Arrow.

This weekend, Oklahoma will play host to the elite teams from the nation in the 2020 Top Club National Tournament. Games will start on Wednesday, June 24th, and run through Sunday, June 27th, with 14U, 16U, and 18U divisions taking to the field.
