The Nebraska softball team opened the 2025 season with three consecutive wins, before running into a couple of ranked buzzsaws to close out the opening weekend of play.

The BYU and University of Hawai’i at Manoa softball teams may not get much time in the national spotlight, but they’ll have the stage to themselves when they face off at the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, one of the most prestigious events of the collegiate season.

The BYU softball team will spend the early part of the 2025 collegiate softball season traveling to locales warmer than its Provo, Utah, home, and that includes a stop at the famed Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

Since winter in Utah is no joke, the BYU softball team will play nearly half of its 51-game schedule on the road before ever clocking in at Gail Miller Field for a home game in Provo, Utah.

Last season, controversial obstruction calls were the topic of the WCWS and postseason play. The NCAA tweaked the obstruction rule this season in hopes of gaining clarity for umpires and teams. "In the act of catching" is now reduced to "in possession of the ball." 

Rising star Madison Jacobus is not only extremely athletic and a complete wall at second base, but she also has a keen eye for photography. Her pictures are good — really good.

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah second baseman Hannah Flippen has been named the College Sports Madness Pac-12 Softball Player of the Week for her exceptional performance in the series sweep of Arizona State.

Mike Stith and Gary Haning’s OC Batbusters won their second consecutive PGF 18U Premier national championship with a 7-0 victory over the So Cal A’s. We’ve profiled teams and players from all over the country, but this is a first—we go into a state where we haven’t done much: Utah!

There are still some high school championships yet to be played, but club season is upon us and one of the biggest events of the summer is suddenly here.
