Mike Candrea made the Arizona desert into a college softball fortress with his historic, decades-long tenure as leader of the Wildcats.

The 2023 NCAA softball schedule is in full swing as Division I teams from across the country begin their seasons on Feb. 9 with the goal of reaching Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Hope Trautwein tossed North Texas' first-ever perfect game and the Mean Green (18-9, 2-2 C-USA) outscored Arkansas -Pine Bluff (1-18, 1-6 SWAC) 8-2 in a sweep of Sunday's doubleheader.  The two teams will square off on Monday at 1 p.m. as the Mean Green go for the series sweep.

As February approaches, the countdown clock on the Tracy Beard College Classic website is clicking closer and closer to zero-hour.

Growing up in Lawton, Oklahoma, University of North Texas head softball coach Rodney DeLong was a die-hard Oklahoma Sooners football fan. When he began coaching softball, DeLong, now in his third season with the Mean Green, looked up to Sooners head softball coach Patty Gasso. So it was only fitting that on February 29, 2020, DeLong would lead his team to victory over the school he rooted for as a boy while making history at the same time.

2021 Tracy Beard College Classic on FloSoftball featuring Texas, Oklahoma State, Kansas, North Texas, Lamar, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, Tarleton, South Dakota State is now canceled.

It was one of those moments that seemed humiliating at the time but turned out well in the end.
