Seventeen Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) softball players earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honors announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.

James Madison’s Hannah Shifflett was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year in the reveal of the conference's softball year-end awards. Additionally, Delaware and UNCW received two major awards each as voted by the league’s eight head coaches.

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The final games of the 2022 James Madison softball season have been canceled, following the recent passing of sophomore catcher Lauren Bernett on Monday, April 25.

The Colonial Athletic Association has announced that this weekend’s three-game softball series between James Madison and Delaware has been cancelled due to the unfortunate passing of JMU softball student-athlete Lauren Bernett.

News of Laurent Bernett’s death April 26 at age 20 labeled her a James Madison softball player, and her successes on the diamond should indeed be celebrated. But Bernett’s passing takes a daughter, a friend, a student, and a softball player far too soon.
