Today, we begin our look at the talent in the Class of 2019 as we update the Hot 100 for the current sophomore class. We're spotlighting 10 each day on the countdown from 100 to No. 1.

We'll announce the Top 10 of the class on Friday, February 3 and shortly after will profile the No. 1 player, the "Next In (101-200)," recruits "On the Bubble (201-300)" and finally the "Top College Rankings" for the '19 class.

Since we first released the 2019 Hot 100 a year ago at this time, there has been a lot of changes as players have emerged as nationally prominent recruits. In fact, 39 of the players in this second version are new!

These sophomore standouts were chosen based on input and feedback from college and club coaches who've seen them play across the nation. Criteria for choosing and ranking the players including performances at the club and high school levels and projecting how they will play at the collegiate level.

Today we feature players No. 100 to 91 who come from California (3), Florida, Illinois, Oregon, Oklahoma (2), Pennsylvania, Texas (2) and Virginia.

null

100--Jenna Khantzian P… Rock Gold-Waye (Virginia Tech)null
Khantzian has been pitching for Coach Rick Waye in the Rock Gold organization since the eighth grade and has established herself as one of the top pitchers on the East Coast. The Pennsylvania sophomore has excellent command and consistently throws in the mid-60 mph range. She has recorded key wins and saves against elite 18U teams from across the nation and led the team to a championship finish in the Triple Crown Sports Super Stars tournament in Plantation, Florida in October. For the fall Jenna went 10-2 with five saves and allowed only nine earned while striking out 96 with just six walks in 74 1/3rd innings.

99--Sloan Gayan P… Beverly Bandits (Kentucky)null
Gayan has always had a good riseball and curve, but what makes her an elite pitcher now is the development of a change-up in the last six months which has taken her game to the next level. Advanced as a pitcher because of her physical tools and mental make-up, she will pitch and play the outfield for Jen Tyrell's 16U team which will be one of the top clubs to watch at that age division because of the strong pitching staff which also includes Sydney Supple (Northwestern) and Morgan Scivally (Illinois). Sloan committed to Kentucky in November. Sloan throws in the mid-60s and at PGF Platinum last summer pitched in nine games and compiled a 0.99 ERA and had a no-hitter to open bracket play.

98--Celeste Soliz C… Angels Fastpitch (Arizona State)null
Soliz is the rare catcher who is strong defensively (1.7 pop time avg.) and yet can bat lead-off for her team because she can runs a 2.8 second home-to-first. A great all-around athlete, the lefty hitter has speed and power and can play any position on the field. She led the Texas-based Angels Premier 16U team with 40 steals as well as in hits, runs scored, walks, and on-base percentage (.542). Soliz batted .500 for the Angels and behind the plate threw out over 70 percent of runners trying to steal against her. The Texan was invited to try out for the Mexican Junior Olympic team this year and committed to ASU in December after receiving offers from Big Ten and other Pac-12 schools.

97--Madisyn Davis P… Jacksonville Storm-Davis (Troy)null
Davis has a high softball IQ--not surprising as she's the daughter of Storm head coach Addison Davis--and showed she has the physical tools to match her poise in the circle as she went undefeated at PGF and led her team to a top 15 finish. The Florida hurler went 31-5 last year for the storm with an 0.91 ERA and 192 Ks. Madisyn's ability to spin the ball and change speeds from 61 mph to 42 mph makes her effect as she can paint the corners and frustrate batters who don't know what to expect. She earned All-State honors as a freshman at Oakleaf High, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation at one point during the season.

96--Anna Jones OF… Texas Bombers Gold (LSU)null
Jones tremendous arm strength, but it's her hitting abilities that got her an SEC offer. She can play the small game and also hit for power and is an exceptional situation hitter who will do what it takes to get on base and help her team win. She was a key force for the Impact last year and helped lead her team to a 3rd place finish at Atlanta Legacy, 5th place in the Power Pool at Triple Crown Sports and 13th at PGF Nationals. Jones is attending a new school this year, Deer Park (Texas), after her family moved in the fall. An excellent athlete with the speed to pressure defenses, she was first noticed by LSU in the fall of 2014 and committed to the Tigers a year ago despite heavy interest from programs in the Big 12, ACC and SEC.

T-95--McKenzie Barbara C/1B… Explosion-Greg (Ole Miss)null
Barbara showed her explosive power over the summer as she helped her So Cal Choppers 14U team make it to the Colorado IDT championship game by hitting three home runs, including a grand slam, and followed that up with three more homers at PGF as the Choppers finished 4th. An SEC-quality catcher/infielder with great strength--she can max deadlift 300 pounds and back squat 275 pounds--Barbara moved to Greg Borzilleri's Explosion this fall where she helped her new squad win the PGF Ultimate Challenge as she hit .455 with six RBI. Last spring she led her Woodrow Wilson High in every offensive category including a .466 batting average and eight home runs to earn 2nd Team All-Area Dream Team honors (catcher).

T-95--Ariel Carlson 1B/P… Beverly Bandits (Oregon)null
Carlson has one of the sweetest swings in the 2019 class. Playing behind fellow future Oregon Duck Lauren Burke at Marist High in Eugene, Oregon, she was somewhat overshadowed, but that will change this year. Her power is her greatest aspect as she had 14 home runs in 27 games last spring to go with a .495 batting average and 48 RBI to help her earn 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-State honors. Ariel played for the Northwest Bullets last year and recently moved to the Bandits out of Illinois where Burke played last year. A good infielder with excellent arm strength, she can also pitch effectively and hit 60 mph on the radar gun. She committed to the Ducks over a year ago over other Pac-12 schools.

94--Kieara Edwards OF… East Cobb Bullets -- Biele (Mississippi State)null
Edwards is a strong, athletic player with a lot of growth potential. She elevates her game when the stakes are highest including a grand slam in Colorado to seal a key game. It was her big hits at PGF, a two-run single in a 2-0 win and a solo home run in a 1-0 victory that solidified her ability to perform against the country's top teams. For Osbourn Park (Virginia) high school, she batted .459 with six home runs to earn All-State honors as she helped her team win its first state championship. She committed to Mississippi State on October 7 of last year while on campus immediately after receiving an offer as MSU had been her favorite school since visiting during the summer of 2015.

93--Miranda Johnson MIF… Firecrackers-Lutterloh (Notre Dame)null
Johnson is a lefty slapper with serious speed but can also drop bombs. Her athleticism allows her to play a number of positions, including the outfielder, but her range, quick feet and hands make her an ideal middle infielder and she can make amazing defensive plays all day long. As a freshman last spring at Santa Margarita High School, Johnson batted .496 to earn 1st Team All-League honors and over the summer she had had an explosive first year with Mike Lutterloh's Firecrackers, batting .586 with five triples and 24 RBI in 20 games. "MJ" had multiple offers from SEC, ACC and Big East schools before choosing the Irish in 2016.

T-92--Madison Neighbors C… Tulsa Elite (Oklahoma State)null
Neighbors is as solid as they come for a catcher. She was clocked at over 60 mph throwing overhand virtually shutting down the oppositions running game. Neighbors packs serious power at the plate. The Oklahoma State commit continues to improve her game and put up impressive offensive numbers again this year after earning All-Metro honors as a freshman when she batted .421 with a 1.248 OPS. This fall, she earned Tulsa All-World recognition Madison is a strong leader on the field and played shortstop growing up before converting to being a full-time catcher. She committed to Oklahoma State in October of 2015.

T-92--Anise Alatorre 3B… Explosion-Greg (uncommitted)null
Alatorre is set to have a huge 2017 and see her recruiting stock rise as she's already being recruiting by schools in the ACC and SEC. She's a key force on the Explosion 16U ranked by FloSoftball as one of the top five teams in the age division. Alatorre packs serious power at the plate and when she gets hot can dominate a game with her stick. She drives the ball line to line and is a threat to go deep at any at bat. In the field she covers a lot of ground and the So Cal sophomore isn't afraid to come in tight to take away the short game. One of the top uncommitted players on the board, she's a steal for whoever gets her this year.

91--Jourdyn Campbell OF/UT… Impact Gold-Jackson (Texas A&M)null
Campbell can play any position in the infield and outfield due to her great athleticism and versatility. Combining great physical tools with an outstanding work ethic and sense for the game, she was one of the stars at the USSSA Select 30 camp in August where she earned 1st Team All-American recognition and was noted for her arm strength and accuracy in the outfield tests. She had the second-best velocity with a 63 mph throw. Campbell was also was honored for her "long, easy strides in the outfield" and "quick arm speed with accurate throws to bases." Her speed and clutch play was acknowledged when she was selected as the Texas District 21-6A Rookie of the Year for her play with her Channelview High team. Recognizably talented at a very young age, she verballed to A&M when in the eighth grade.
