Virginia Head Coach Blake Miller Resigns

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia director of athletics Craig Littlepage announced today that head softball coach Blake Miller has resigned, effective immediately.

“I would like to thank Blake for his efforts over the last three seasons at UVA,” Littlepage said. “While the program showed improvement, I believe a change is necessary for Virginia softball to be in a position to be competitive, first in the conference and then on the national stage.”

Miller was named head coach at Virginia on June 18, 2013 and he compiled an overall record of 42-116 in three seasons at UVA. Under Miller’s guidance, three Cavaliers were named to the ACC All-Academic Team and sophomore Allison Davis was named to the 2016 All-ACC Second Team.

Prior to coming to Virginia, Miller was the top assistant at Oregon for three seasons. During that time, the Ducks advanced to three consecutive NCAA Super Regionals and the 2012 Women’s College World Series.

Compensation owed to Miller and any assistant coaches not retained by the next head coach will be funded from athletics department funds. The athletics department does not receive state funding.

Prior to accepting the head coaching position Blake Miller served as Assistant Coach at the University of Oregon.
