The Diamond 9 Sun Classic Fall Showcase is one of the biggest and best tournaments of the fall. Travel teams from all over the country come to this tournament to measure themselves against the most talented teams like the OC Batbusters, Birmingham Thunderbolts, So Cal Athletics, etc. It's also a time where up and coming teams are given a shot to compete against the big dogs in the travel ball world. College coaches fly in from all over the country to recruit and to watch their future athletes compete in one of the best tournaments of the fall. During the podcast interview, Kevin O' Donnell, tournament director, shares some insight on the tournament. I asked him what teams to watch for and which college softball programs have extraordinary coaches.
