On Wednesday of this week we reported in our Recruiting News & Notes column about Arizona State Head Coach Craig Nicholson resigning on Monday citing personal medical reasons.

Assistant coaches Robert Wanger and Letty Olivarez will be the co-interim head coaches for this upcoming season and, just a few weeks away from Signing Day, the sudden resignation not only impacts current Sun Devil players but also recruits.

A few weeks ago, the expected seven seniors committed to ASU tripped to the Pac-12 school for their official visit. From what we heard this week and also today at the PGF Shootout where we spoke to several of the players, it looks like all will sign and everything will continue as planned.

Here is the list of the seven standout players:

•    C Sierra Blair (KG Hitters)
•    SS Randi Farricker (Corona Angels)
•    OF Hannah Howell (Explosion-Denio/Wilson)
•    P/1B Alyssa Loza (Explosion-Denio/Wilson)
•    SS Emma Ramelot (Explosion-Morgan)
•    OF Allison Tatnall (Explosion-Denio/Wilson)
•    OF Briana Wise (Diamonds Ashley)

We were able to get comments from six of the players on how their trip went… here’s what they had to say (again, prior to the coaching news this week):

Sierra Blair:
"Visiting ASU again reminded me of how blessed I am and why I chose to spend my next four years there. I'm looking forward to getting a great education, working hard on the field and in the weight room, and growing close with my new Sun Devil family."

Randi Farricker:
"My official visit validated all of the reasons that I fell in love with ASU my freshman year. There is an incredible sense of community and spirit on campus, especially within the softball program. I felt an immediate connection with my future teammates and coaches, and I am extremely excited to be a part of that family next year."

Hannah Howell:
"My visit to ASU was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. The coaching staff and girls did an amazing job at showing us the campus and giving us a feel of how we will fit into the program. I am excited to continue my softball career as a Sun Devil, and get an excellent education."

Alyssa Loza:
"Having the opportunity to go on my official visit to Arizona State University put into perspective that all of the hard work and sacrifices that my family and I have had to make throughout my entire softball career has paid off. I am so thankful and blessed that ASU has given me the opportunity to live out my dream of competing in the Pac-12. I am so excited for what my future holds and I can't wait to spend my collegiate career at ASU. I felt right at home and I felt the warmth of the community and the amazing atmosphere that ASU has. I am looking forward to receiving a great education, to working hard on the field and in the training room, and being a part of the Sun Devil Softball family."

Emma Ramelot:
"It was a surreal experience to get to know what your life will be like in a year and exciting to know that I will be spending my best years at that college."

Allison Tatnall:
"Having the experience to preview my next few years and get to know my future teammates was beyond amazing. As soon as I got home, I was trying to make plans to return to Tempe. I am more than excited to spend my collegiate experience at Arizona State."
