Below are the team rankings for the 2013 PGF National Championships at the 18U Premier, 18U Platinum, 16U, 14U and 12U divisions which ran from July 20-26 for the 16U and 14U divisions and July 27-August 3 for 18U Premium and Platinum as well as 12U.
Interestingly, the youngest and oldest winners both came from the same organization–the So Cal A’s–and the 12U team won convincingly, 9-0 over the the Arizona Suncats, right before their older “sisters” won the 18U Premium division with a close 3-2 victory over Team Mizuno-Stith.
One of the top performances of any of the championship games was turned in by pitcher Payton Tidd of the 12U A’s–all she did was pitch six nearly flawless innings, allowing only one hit and a walk.
“We came out and played hard, which is what the girls have done all season long,” said Head Coach David Mercado after the win. “We just want the team to come out and play our game. We build this around the girls and it’s their world. As coaches, we expect them to be perfect which they’re not obviously all the time, but they leave it all out there and I couldn’t be more proud of them and the level they’re playing at at twelve years old.”
