Hot 100 Seniors (#100-91)

Today we begin our look at the top 100 players in the 2014 class… we will spotlight 10 each day for the next two weeks and count down from 100 to No. 1. The seniors were chosen based on input and feedback from college and club coaches. Criteria for choosing and ranking the players including performances at the club and high school levels and projecting how they will play at the collegiate level.

We being at No. 100 to 91 with standout players from California, Florida, Michigan and Texas…

Check out more of 2014's HOT 100:  90-81, 80-71, 70-61, 60-51, 50-41, 40-31, 30-21, 20-11, 10-1

#100... Amanda Vargas (SS/3B, Firecrackers-Blanco)--Michigan
Amanda played on the 16U Firecrackers team that won the PGF Nationals in 2011 and included future Wolverine teammate Tera Blanco. A versatile power hitter, she can play infield and outfield and is known to be a clutch hitter who thrives when the pressure is on. Photo: OCVarsity.com
#99... Jenavee Peres (C, Firecrackers-Rico)--San Diego State
Jenavee wears #43 because that's the jersey number worn by her uncle, Troy Polamalu, the star linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers (her mom is the sister of the future Hall of Fame player). She's a good receiver who manages pitchers well and has a cannon for an arm. The catcher is a pure power hitter on offense, too.
#98... Megan Reed (1B/3B/OF, Gold Coast Hurricanes)--Florida
Megan's another dangerous power hitter who's staying in-state to play in the SEC because she is a home run threat whenever she's at the plate. She also hits for average (hit .493 as a high school sophomore) and has played volleyball since the sixth grade giving her above-average athleticism and versatility.
#97... Miranda Viramontes (P, Corona Angels)--Utah
Don't be surprised if Miranda is higher on these rankings later in the year as she's seemingly improving every week. A big-game pitcher who keeps the ball low and hits her sports, she's led Chino (Calif.) to two CIF championships against good competition and had three no-hitters and a one-hitter in the playoffs and finished the year with 21 straight wins.
#96... Izzy Ordorica (IF, Tampa Mustangs)--UCLA
It was last year at this time when Izzy committed to go cross-country and play for her dream school, UCLA, which she's loved since she was 10 and took hitting lessons from former Bruin Lyndsey Klein. She's a smooth-fielding middle infielder with a compact swing at the plate and the bat speed to drive the ball in the gaps.
#95... Brooklin Hinz (P/OF, KC Peppers)--Kentucky
Brooklin pitches in high school and was a Kansas 5A All-State pick as a sophomore but look for her to play outfield for the Wildcats as she's a special hitter who can crush the ball. She's so strong, the ball comes off the bat with a different sound than other hitters.
#94... Morgan Klaevemann (OF, Texas Bombers)--Florida State
Morgan is the definition of a multi-sport athlete and not just plays them, she dominates, earning All-State in softball and All-District in basketball. She has great speed and covers a lot of ground in the outfield and has been clocked at 2.59 home to first. The Texan has a lot of headroom and should star in the ACC.
#93... Erin Houthoofd (IF/P, Texas Aces)--Texas A&M
Erin helped lead the Aces to a top five finish at this year's ASA Gold Nationals where she hit 10 RBI and was one of the most dangerous hitters in the tournament. A great leader who fires up her teammates, she is solid defensively and can play either first or second. She committed to A&M as a sophomore.
#92... Danielle Garcielita (2B/OF, Firecrackers-Blanco)--North Carolina
Danielle is an excellent slapper with good speed who plays with great heart and leadership. She's been with Jeff Blanco since she was 12 years old and having grown up in the Firecrackers' organization she knows how to do the little things right and win on a big stage.
#91... Lea Foerster (OF, Beverly Bandits)--Michigan State
Lea is a five-tool lefty with good first-step quickness and good all-around athleticism--she's played varsity basketball and is the daughter of a long-time Michigan high school football coach. One of her strengths is her ability to run the bases and take a delayed steal. Photo: Kalamazoo Gazette
