A perfect performance in the circle has earned Florida ASA athlete Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) Week 3 ASA Junior Olympic (JO) Player of the Week honors, presented by Worth Fastpitch and StudentSports.com, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/ USA Softball announced today.

JordynKadlubKadlub’s 3-0 outing on the mound helped her 14U Tampa Mustangs – Bell team to clinch first place at the Panama City Beach Qualifier in Panama City, Fla.  With the wins, the Tampa Mustangs – Bell also earned a berth to the ASA/USA 14U Class A National Championships in San Diego, Calif. July 28 – August 3, 2014.

Kadlub got her first start in the circle against the Gold Coast Hurricanes – Miller, where she won the rubber match 4-2.  In her next appearance against the Santa Fe Inferno – Nowling, Kadlub was lights out, helping her team to a 6-0 shutout win and securing a place in the Championship Game.  Facing a rematch with the Santa Fe Inferno – Nowling in the Championship Game, Kadlub was given the start again where she threw her second shutout of the day with a 4-0 win.  Through 19 innings of work, Kadlub only gave up two runs and two walks.

Established to recognize JO players 18 years or younger for outstanding play in an ASA/USA sanctioned event, the ASA/USA Softball JO Player of the Week will honor 14 athletes, male or female, from May 9 – August 8 following the conclusion of the ASA/USA JO National Championships.

Nominations will be taken on a week-by-week basis (see below schedule) and will be submitted and accepted through this form found on StudentSportsSoftball.com  until noon ET every Tuesday.

In order to be eligible for the award, athletes must be registered with their local ASA/USA association and must have participated in ASA/USA Softball sanctioned events or tournaments during the week nominated.

Honorable Mentions:

Morgan Hirai (Pasco, Wa.) – Morgan helped her Tri-City Fuzion squad to a perfect weekend at the Jack Reynolds Memorial Tournament.  She finished the tournament with a  .667 (six-for-nine) batting average with five RBI and three walks.

Madison Kublik (Oakdale, Minn.) – Madison performed both in the circle and at the plate for her North St. Paul Polars squad.  She went 4-0 in the circle with a 2.47 ERA and one shutout, while batting .625 (five-for-eight) with seven RBI, including one grand slam and one home run.

Lauren Waldroff (Apple Valley, Minn.) – Lauren had a phenomenal weekend at the plate with her Eastview Lightning Black team.  In her 14 at bats, she had 12 hits for a .857 average, including two doubles and eight RBI.
