Today we honor the group of All-American high school softball players who made the 2nd Team. Any one of these players could have easily made the 1st Team as well, it’s a strong year across the board and these players should have great success at the colle
Today we honor the group of All-American high school softball players who made the 2nd Team.
Any one of these players could have easily made the 1st Team as well, it’s a strong year across the board and these players should have great success at the collegiate level just as they did in high school and club competition.
The criteria for selection includes a combination of all the following factors:
- performance on the field
- overall contribution to the team’s success
- talent and skills (athletic and softball-specific)
- off the field success (academic, community, charity, etc.)
Some of the top players highlighted today include pitcher/utility player Andrea Kindrick from Russellville, Ark. who is a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year and went 21-3 with seven no-hitters and 296 strikeouts and just 18 walks in 142 innings. She also hit .604 at the plate with a 1.169 slugging average. She’ll play at the Univ. of Alabama.
Highlighting the position players are a pair of senior teammates from Pacifica High in Garden Grove, Calif.—Michigan-bound centerfielder Faith Canfield and infielder Nicole DeWitt, who has signed with Florida. The pair helped the Mariners win the CIF Southern Section Div. I championship as Canfield hit .402 with 35 RBI for the season while DeWitt hit for a .398 average and was named the Div. I Player of the Year.
