Monday at PGF Nationals will see most teams play one game in the morning and then get ready to enjoy the Opening Ceremonies at Huntington Beach Central Park later in the afternoon and evening.

This will be the calm before the storm, because starting bright and early Tuesday morning (8 am), the action on the field will start off fast and furious.

Below are three things:

  1. Links to the brackets which are updated regularly so you can see the march to the championship games to be played Saturday at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif.
  2. Five compelling Tuesday 1st round match-ups at the 18 Premier level.
  3. The complete list of 18 Premier teams and their coaches. Someone from this group will win it all… I’ve put a asterix (*) in front of my predicted top 5 teams with the best chance to win it all!

Five intriguing 1st Round Matchups:

1. Beverly Bandits-Conroy vs. OC Batbusters-Haning
Two favorites with great pitching, but one will have to progress through the loser’s bracket for most of the week.

2. Firecrackers-Rico vs Michigan Finesse
A fun contrast in styles as the Firecrackers can slap and small ball you death while the Finesse can kill you with power.

3. KG Hitters vs. Texas Bombers
Two talent-rich teams that are under-rated and, at least on paper, are pretty evenly matched.

4. Explosion vs. All American Sports Academy
Two teams that have top 10 finish abilities, but one will have a tall mountain to climb in the loser’s bracket.

5. Jersey Intensity vs.winner of Originals Gold/Lady Lightning
Intensity has one of the top pitchers in Allison Frei, the Lightning finished top 10 last year but lost some key players and the Originals Gold could make a deep run so this game –and the play-in game—have a lot of intrigue.
