Texas softball players: hope you’re enjoying some Labor Day time off because this weekend it’s back to the field and time to get working!

The 5th Annual Worth Exposure Weekend presented by the Texas Bombers will take place Friday through Sunday—September 5-7, 2014—at the Huber Ranch Softball Complex in Sequin, Texas.

This event brings together some of the top teams and programs in Texas in a very unique format,” explains Scott Smith, the head of the Texas Bombers organization.

“ A number of years ago we meet with a couple of college coaches who were very disappointed with where the exposure tournaments were going with tournaments, at times, having nearly 200 to 300 teams at time at the same event.”

“This made seeing players very difficult and had college coaches chasing players from complex to complex. With some great input from various college coaches we created ‘Exposure Weekend’ which is a unique format that gives college coaches various formats to watch players perform.”

Here is a breakdown of each of the events day-by-day:

WHAT: College Coaches Game Clinic
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 5
WHO: 120 registered players for the clinic

A dozen top college coaches will run a clinic in a game format, giving players the opportunity to be coached up by some of the best coaches in the country.

Each inning will be conducted in a different format giving coaches the opportunity work on the individual skills of all players.

The college coaches conducting the “Coaches Game Clinic” include:

  3. Michelle Cheatham (Texas at San Antonio)

  5. Becky Horn (Pensacola Junior College)
  6. Corrie Hill (Texas)
  7. Jo Hardin (McNeese State University)
  8. Tyler Bratton (Mississippi State)
  9. Kristen Vesselly (Houston)
  10. Todd Bradley (Campbell)
  11. Lee Smith (Mississippi Valley State)

WHAT: Player Combine / All-Star Games / Coaches’ Social
WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 6
WHO: 400 uncommitted players registered for the combine

*** Saturday morning will feature a recruiting combine broken down by position with 400 uncommitted players vying to impress and caught a coach’s eye.

Here is the schedule by position:

  • 8:00am – CATCHERS & OUTFIELDERS
  • 10:30AM – INFIELDERS
  • 1:00PM – PITCHERS

*** In the afternoon, the players will be broken down by graduation class into All-Star teams and they will compete against each other in that format:

  • 3:30PM – ROUND 1 ALL-STAR GAMES
  • 5:15PM – ROUND 2 ALL-STAR GAMES

*** That evening, all college and travel ball coaches will be treated to a BBQ and refreshments in a Coaches’ Social that will feature some of the top coaches in the game speaking on various fastpitch softball subjects. Note: the Coaches’ Social is FREE of charge to all coaches.

WHAT: Team Round Robin
WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 7
WHO: 36 top club teams from Texas and Louisiana

The team competition is limited to three dozen elite programs. Here is a list of some of the top teams participating:
