Halfway through the 2017 Hot 100 (12/14)

One week done, one to go as we’ve unveiled the standout fastpitch players listed as No’s 100 to 51 in the 2017 Hot 100.

Mackenzie Nutt is one of four players in the first 50 going to the same SEC school.

This Monday through Friday we’ll get to players ranked No. 50 down to the top player in the sophomore class.

Halfway through the list, here are some early trends of note…

*****

*** Colleges who have the most commits so far (players ranked 51-100):

  • Auburn (4)
  • Ohio State (3)
  • Texas A&M (3)
  • Schools with two commits: Arizona, Arkansas, North Carolina State, Northwestern, South Carolina, Wisconsin

*** You don’t have to be going to a so-called “big-name” program or belong to a “power conference” to make the list either.

Here are some of these universities who have at least one player already on the list:

  • Alabama-Birmingham
  • Memphis
  • UC Davis
  • South Florida

*** Because this is the youngest class in which we’ve ranked players, it’s not surprising that many are uncommitted in the first batch of 50 players honored.

How many would you guess are still considering their options?

The answer: 11 players

*** Several club organizations – meaning not just one team but can be several squads – have multiple players listed already.

Hannah Todd is one of many on the Georgia Impact to make the first 50 in the 2017 Hot 100.
