Halfway through the 2018 Hot 100 (3/29)
Halfway through the 2018 Hot 100 (3/29)
We’ve posted the first 50 of the outstanding players in the 2018 Hot 100 and are catching our breath as we begin the final push.
It’s always fun to look at trends as we’re one week in with this last week to go (be sure to check in daily for the players ranked No.’s 50 through 1!
Here are some interesting developments so far… we’ll see how it goes when all 100 are revealed!
*****
*** Colleges who have the most commits so far (players ranked 51-100):
- Surprisingly, no one program has more than two players committed… here are the ones with a pair so far: Central Florida, LSU, Penn State, Washington
- Those with one: Arizona, Arizona State, DePaul, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Pitt, Rutgers, Seton Hall, South Florida and Syracuse.
*** Because this is the youngest class in which we’ve ranked players, it’s not surprising that many are uncommitted in the first batch of 50 players honored.
How many would you guess are still considering their options? The answer: 27 players or 54% of those elite players are still undecided.
*** Several club organizations – meaning not just one team but can be several squads – have multiple players listed already.
*** Here’s the list of all who have more than one player to have made the first 50 cut:
- Georgia Impact- Lewis (5)
- Beverly Bandits (3)
- Explosion (3)*
- Firecrackers (3)**
- Ohio Outlaws (3)
- Texas Glory (3)
- Club organizations with two players: Birmingham Thunderbolts, Lady Lightning Gold Team Miken, Lil Rebels – RC, Power Surge – Berndes, So Cal A’s – TO, Wichita Mustangs 16U
* = two with Explosion – Flores, one with Explosion – Greg
** = two with Firecrackers – Lutterloh, one with Firecrackers A – Hinkle
*** In terms of states producing players, California leads the way as usual with 12 players being in the 50 players released to date.
The list so far goes like this:
- California (12)
- Georgia (6)
- Texas (5)
- Illinois (3)
- States with two players: Arizona, Kansas, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania
*** 21 states have been represented so far: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
*** Finally, unlike every other class we’ve looked at to this point, the 2018 class has the most diverse first names!
There are only three pairs of players who share the same first name:
- Jessica, Maddie/Madison, Taylor
