Marion, IL (June 10, 2019) –The Canadian Wild dropped the final game in their five-game series against the USSSA Pride, falling 3-2 on Monday night at Rent One Park.

Jennifer Gilbert provided all of the offense for the Wild tonight, doubling home Joey Lye from second with a two-out RBI double to left field.

The lead was short-lived as the Pride responded in the top half of the fourth. Two walks to start the inning put runners on first and second for Jessie Warren, who blasted a no-doubter over the left field fence to put the Pride up 3-1.

Warren’s hit would hold up as the game-winner and earned her Park Planet Player of the Game honors for the night.

Taran Alvelo replaced Jessica Burroughs in the third and completely shut down the Wild offense after allowing Gilbert’s double. She only allowed two hits on the night, struck out three and set down the final 10 Wild batters in a row, and 12 of the final 13.

For the Wild, Sara Groenewegen made her first start of the season in her fifth appearance. Groenewegen went four innings and allowed three runs on three hits, walking two and striking out four.

Jenna Caira came on in relief to start the fifth and shut down the Pride offense, only allowing one hit in 10 batters faced with no walks and striking out two.
