Indiana vs Wisconsin | Big Ten Women's Softball - Game 3
The Wisconsin softball team clinched its third Big Ten sweep of the season on Sunday, run-ruling Indiana 8-0.
It was none other than Kayla Konwent, the 2019 Egg Boxing Champion, to get the scoring started in the bottom of the third inning with a solo shot way over the center field wall. Soon after, a Caroline Hedgcock single brought in Tyra Turner, who was running for Stephanie Lombardo. The third run of the inning came when Kelly Welsh was walked and it moved Lauren Foster across home plate.
But the Badgers finished it off in the fifth with five runs off of three hits and one error. Back-to-back hits from Jordan Little and Welsh started things off. An error brought Little in for the first run of the inning then a Konwent single pushed Welsh across home plate. The last three runs were walked in by Indiana pitcher Josie Wood to seal the 8-0 run-rule victory and clinch the series sweep.
Haley Hestekin pitched all five innings and only allowed two hits and struck out four. Konwent led the Badgers with two runs, three hits and two RBI.
