Washington vs Kentucky Highlights
It was a strong performance from Taran Alvelo as the #5 Washington Huskies defeated the #16 Kentucky Wildcats 4-2. Four batters had multiple hits for Washington to back up Alvelo's performance in the circle, where she struck out nine while allowing only five hits to earn the win. Gabbie Plain had her first career save.
Washington took the lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly and held on strong from there. Taryn Atlee, Sis Bates, and Kaija Gibson all had two singles each, while Sami Reynolds knocked a single and a double. The Huskies would have the leadoff batter reach base five times in seven innings.
Alvelo would allow just six balls to reach the outfield all game and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, on a bunt single that was quickly erased by the first 4-6-3 double play of the year. That would be one of three innings in which Alvelo retired the side in three batters.
