Washington: Ali Aguilar & Courtney Gano Explain Tribe

Washington: Tribe So Hard

Ali Aguilar, junior shortstop and Courtney Gano, senior first baseman for the Washington Huskies sit down to talk about Tribe, battling thoughts of quitting, and we play 5 Second Rule. Ali and Courtney will be the leaders for the infield.

Courtney and Ali are two of the best defenders in the country at both of their positions. Their presence at first and shortstop is going to define our defense. - Coach Heather Tarr
Last season, Aguilar led the team with 117 assists while sporting a .994 fielding percentage. Playing in such a crucial position, the experience Aguilar gained last season will be invaluable this year says Tarr.

At the plate, Aguilar led the Huskies in nearly every offensive category, fueling the offense with a .411 batting average on a team-high 78 hits en route to All-Pac-12 first team and NFCA All-Pacific Region first team accolades. She ended her sophomore season leading the Pac-12 in doubles (23) and also led the team with 66 runs scored, 23 doubles and a .795 slugging percentage. She was second on the team with 58 RBI and 16 home runs.

5 Second Rule: Ali vs. Courtney

Gano was an NFCA All-Pacific Region third-team and second team All-Pac-12 pick. She returns for her final year after driving home a team-best 59 RBI on a .324 batting average in 2015. Gano also led the team with 18 home runs, which tied for 34th in the NCAA.
