Hollis Wivell is a Class of 2017 outfielder/slapper who plays for the Gold Coast Hurricanes-Cooper National team based out of Florida even though the current junior attends Daniel Hand High in Madison, Conn.

We get back to recruiting news after a month-plus of covering top events and today we profile a junior who got recruited very quickly!

It was another exciting year of high school softball across the nation going back to the fall when states like Georgia, Missouri and Oklahoma competed for state championships.

Junior Katie Koshes (Amity Regional/Woodbridge, Conn.), senior Maddie Damon (Kasson-Mantorville/Kasson, Minn.), senior Rachel Douglas (Rappahannock/Warsaw, Va.), senior Megan Hensley (Ashland Blazer/Ashland, Ky.) and senior Cielo Meza (St. Bonaventure/Ventura, Calif.) were selected MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week, respectively, announced on Monday for games played May 25-May 31.

In its 30th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, the Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, today announced its honorees for the 2015 Softball State Players of the Year.

Today’s player spotlight takes us to the East Coast where we learn about an Underclass All-American who’s as equally accomplished in the classroom as she is on the softball field…

Kendra Friedt is one of the top pitchers in the 2015 class and has excelled at the club level with Jersey Intensity and in high school where she was a 2014 Full Count Softball All-American after leading her Southington (Conn.) team to a second straight state title and a No. 41 ranking in our final FAB 50 ratings.

A lot of new verbals as well as some transfer news to report today. Also, look for the updated 2015 Hot 100 to be launched a week from today (October 20)… that’s the plan for now, at least!
