BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week
Reese Guevarra, UConn, Gr., OF (New City, N.Y.)
UConn’s Reese Guevarra earns BIG EAST Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. The graduate batted .571 and knocked in four runs as part of UConn’s perfect 4-0 week, which included a three-game sweep of Creighton. Guevarra had multiple hits in all three games against the Bluejays, including going 2-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday’s victory.
BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Lehman, DePaul, Gr, P (Iowa City, Iowa)
DePaul’s Sarah Lehman starred in the circle this weekend, helping the Blue Demons sweep Seton Hall on the road. The graduate fired a pair of complete games in the series against the Pirates, while also recording the final three outs in Saturday’s win to pick up the save. Lehman did not allow an earned run in her 15 innings of work against Seton Hall while striking out 19 batters across the three appearances.
BIG EAST Softball Freshman of the Week
Lexi Hastings, UConn, Fr., OF (Winterville, N.C.)
UConn’s Lexi Hastings picks up her second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor of the season. The outfielder hit .533 on the week, and went 5-for-12 in the weekend sweep of Creighton. Hastings had a pair of hits in each of the final two games of the series. In a midweek non-conference tilt against UMass, Hastings went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and seven RBI.
BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honor Roll
Monique Hoosen, Butler, So., OF (East Peoria, Ill.) – Hoosen went 5-for-10 over the weekend series at St. John’s which saw the Bulldogs take two out of three on the road. The sophomore went 2-for-3 in Saturday’s affair with two RBI and two runs scored.
Kailey Wilson, Creighton, Jr., INF (Aurora, Colo.) – Wilson had a big weekend against UConn, going 6-for-7 at the dish with a home run and two RBI. The infielder had extra base hits in all three games of the series against the Huskies.
Tori Meyer, DePaul, Jr., OF/DP (Barrington, Ill.) – Meyer helped the Blue Demons to a sweep of Seton Hall with a 6-for-11 performance at the plate. Her best game of the weekend came in Friday’s 13-inning marathon, and she went 3-for-5 in DePaul’s 2-1 win.
Shelby Smith, Seton Hall, Jr., P (Friendswood, Texas) – Smith pitched all 13 innings of the Pirates’ loss to DePaul in Friday’s series opener. The junior struck out 11 batters and allowed just one earned run on the day. Smith would go all seven innings on Sunday as well, striking out nine Blue Demons.
Paige Rauch, Villanova, Gr., P/UT (Windsor, N.Y.) – Rauch went the distance twice in the weekend sweep over Georgetown. The reigning BIG EAST Player and Pitcher of the Year struck out 19 Hoyas over the two games while allowing just three earned runs.
