January 30, 2020 – The California Commotion announced the signing of infielder Taylor Van Zee on Wednesday. Van Zee (Hemet, Calif.) is the fourth signing of National Pro Fastpitch league’s newest expansion team.

Van Zee played at the University of Washington from 2015-2018 where she made two Women’s College World Series appearances, finishing in third and runner-up. As a Husky, she earned All-Pac-12, All-Region and All-Academic recognition.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the California Commotion and get a chance to lace up my cleats again, especially so close to home,” said Van Zee. My love and passion for softball run deep and I am so thankful I get to be a small part of its continuing growth. I look forward to competing and inspiring young athletes to follow their dreams.”

The NPF rookie is currently a graduate student and will earn a Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology.

Taylor comes to the team with great experiences in the collegiate game,” said Commotion General Manager Deb Hartwig. “She has good versatility in the infield and I look forward to seeing her thrive in the NPF.”
