Kaitlyn Alderink, Maddie MacGrandle Leave Texas A&M Program
Senior second baseman Kaitlyn Alderink becomes the third starter to leave the Texas A&M softball program since June.
A pair of players have unexpectedly decided to leave the Texas A&M softball program—but neither will transfer.
Senior second baseman Kaitlyn Alderink and sophomore pitcher Maddie MacGrandle have both elected to step away from head coach Jo Evans team. Texas A&M confirmed the news on Wednesday.
Both Alderink and MacGrandle will remain enrolled at the school.
Alderink has not missed a game during her three-year career with the Aggies. She led the team with 59 hits last season.
MacGrandle started seven games during her freshman year, posting a 5-1 mark, a 2.60 ERA and 27 strikeouts.
The transfers leave Texas A&M with additional holes to fill, following the graduation of six seniors. More disconcerting for the program, Alderink becomes the third starter to leave the program this summer.
Pitcher Samantha Show (Oklahoma State) and outfielder Keeli Milligan (Louisiana-Lafayette) defected in June.
