The voters for the 2022 Hot 100 made FloSoftball history with nearly 140,000 nominations cast to help decide which players were included in the rankings. The talent is overflowing in this class, which is studded with more catchers in the Hot 100 than ever before. Two things that make this class of athletes special are the versatility and strength of hitters and defenders.
We’ve partnered with AthPro360 which measures thousands of athletes at every level and is now gathering data on the top club organizations around the country. AthPro360’s objective performance data will weigh heavily in the Hot 100 rankings.
One new addition to our class rankings that we’re excited to release are the position-specific rankings. We’ve traditionally ranked the top 100 athletes in their respective class. Following the release of the Hot 100, we are going to rank the top 25 players by position: outfield, middle infield, corners, catchers, and pitchers.
These rankings are always subject to change in next year's updated list, and this summer and fall will reveal both the contenders and pretenders.
Here is our release schedule:

30 | Victoria Cervantes, IF/OF | Suncats
Last summer, Cervantes was only caught stealing once and she one of the sleepers on the Suncats to watch this summer. A solid line-drive hitter, she is consistently hitting around the .500 mark. Cervantes is tall, strong, and very athletic with the versatility to play infield and outfield. The reads she gets on defense and when the ball comes off the bat are among the best in the country. Expect big things from Cervantes and the Suncats this summer.
29 | Bridget Donahey, UTL | Mizuno Storm - Mathis/Holtorf (Northwestern)
Donahey had offers from 10 different schools before deciding on Northwestern. Having the ability to play third and move behind the plate is what makes her so valuable. Donahey also swings a big bat on a Mizuno Storm team that will be tough to beat this summer. A hardworking and humble player, Donahey has so much upside given her strength and desire to constantly improve.
28 | Kiana Estrada, 3B/OF | Athletics - Mercado/Greg (Arkansas)
It's a thing of beauty to watch Kiki Estrada swing the bat with violence and authority. One of the top left-handed hitters in the country, she caught the attention of many Power Five schools before deciding on Arkansas. Estrada typically bats anywhere between second and fifth in the order for a red-hot Athletics - Mercado/Greg team. On defense, she plays corner or outfield and will sometimes pitch.
27 | Emma Strood, P | Diamond Sports Hotshots (LSU)
A 6-foot righty, Emma Strood is an intimidating presence each time she steps on the field. She is one of the top 2022 pitchers in her class and can locate all pitches at any time. Strood stepped up in the PGF Premier National Championship game, allowing only one run against Georgia Impact Langston to lead the Hotshots to the title. Not only a star on the mound, Strood is also a force at the plate, launching 22 home runs last summer right behind teammate Maci Bergeron. Injuries have sidelined Strood part of the season but we're confident that when she's 100 percent she could climb up the Hot 100 list with ease.
26 | Anna Sawyer, UTL | Lady Dukes (Duke)
Consistently is one of the most underrated factors in softball and Anna Sawyer proves why it matters. Every day at the field for Sawyer is productive whether she's batting in the leadoff spot or three hole. Sawyer is a great receiver behind the plate and makes terrific plays in the outfield. On the bases, she's savvy and always thinking ahead of the next play.
25 | Elizabeth Schaefer, P | Texas Travelers (Oklahoma State)
Not many pitchers are throwing the peel drop with precision like Travelers ace Elizabeth Schaefer. The combination of her fastball, drop, flip change, and rise has hitters in a tizzy. Over the last year, she no-hit Texas Glory - Naudin and Impact Gold. Not only a beast on the mound, Schaefer can also crank the ball out of the park. Last summer, she made the USA All-American team and had over 15 schools recruiting her before choosing Oklahoma State. Schaefer is the nucleus of a very talented and competitive Texas team.
24 | Kennedy Powell, IF | Diamond Sports Hotshots (UCLA)
A beast on the field and catalyst for the Hotshots offense, Powell is one of those players you can't stop watching. She's a triple threat who can beat the defense by laying down a bunt with touch or driving the ball the gap. Once Powell reaches base, she becomes another threat to steal, swiping 60 bases last summer. She's a savvy player that loves to win, collecting five nationals championships in her young career.
23 | Skylar Elkins, C | Georgia Impact National - Lewis (Auburn)
Elkins is considered one of the toughest kids in the park and is an elite catcher and hitter. One of the few catchers who calls her own games, Elkins is exceptional when it comes to leveraging the strengths of her pitchers and weaknesses of the hitters. Never shaken under pressure, she thrives in the big moments. Whether she puts the ball over the fence or works a strike for her pitchers, Elkins is the X-factor for Georgia Impact National-Lewis. Elkins' communication skills and on-the-field leadership are beyond her years. She makes her own schedule every week, works out consistently, and puts in extra time to be the best.
22 | Chloe Geijer, UTL | Beverly Bandits Premier - Allen
Geijer was a recent addition to the Beverly Bandits Premier - Allen team and she measured off the charts at Allister's On Deck. Bill Conroy was eager to talk about Geijer's potential to be one of the breakout stars of the summer. She can play anywhere and is very fast, strong, and athletic. Coming from a smaller Illinois team, Geijer will elicit attention from college coaches and help the Bandits to another successful summer.
21 | Jayden Goodwin, IF | Georgia Impact Premier - Fisher (Georgia)
Every coach loves "Shorty" Goodwin. From Paris, Kentucky, Shorty led the team in hitter last fall and was instrumental in Georgia Impact - Langston's success during a second-place finish at 12U PGF Nationals. Goodwin is sharp on the field with a softball IQ that ranks among the best. The leadoff slapper for Impact proves that she can slap it to the gaps and execute the short game. On base, she is just as proficient at stealing bases as she is at getting on base, swiping nearly every stolen base attempt last season. Goodwin took visits to LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Michigan State before verbally committing to Georgia.
