The voters for the 2022 Hot 100 made FloSoftball history with nearly 140,000 nominations cast to help decide which players were included in the rankings. The talent is overflowing in this class, which is studded with more catchers in the Hot 100 than ever before. Two things that make this class of athletes special are the versatility and strength of hitters and defenders.
These rankings are always subject to change in next year's updated list, and this summer and fall will reveal contenders and pretenders.
90 | Aynslee Linduff, P/DH | Gametime 2021 Gold
Linduff is a dual threat on the mound and at the plate for Gametime Stars 2021 Gold. During the 2017 season, she went 19-5 on the mound with a 2.2 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 135 innings pitched. She has steady spin on the ball and can throw in the low 60s. At the plate, Linduff has the ability to go to both sides of the field while hitting with power and average from the left side. She hit .420 this past season with a .460 OBP and 20 doubles from the two-hole in the lineup. Already this spring, she is 6-1 on the mound with 47 innings pitched and 45 Ks while hitting .510 with a .550 OBP. Linduff is receiving looks from Big 12 and SEC schools and had multiple offers from Big 12 schools prior to the new recruiting rules. She has also been invited to the On Deck Jamboree in Colorado this summer.
89 | Jordyn Ramos, 3B | Lil Rebels
The Lil Rebels stunned the CA Breeze Fernault by winning their recent PGF qualifier in a nail-biter. Ramos possesses all the tools and has been instrumental to her team's success on offense. Her power, speed, agility, and size make her an all-around dominant player who will stand out at the next level.
88 | Kaylyn Belfield, OF | Vienna Stars National - Belfield
Belfield had a stellar 2017 summer, batting .615 at PGF Nationals in 2017. She was also a USA Elite Select All-American, Inaugural Faster2First All-Stars team selection, and a 10 USSSA Worlds Series champion. She had 12 unofficial visits accepted and taken in the fall/winter from multiple SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Southern Conference, and CAA. One SEC coach said Belfield's combination of skills is one of the best in the nation, including her ability to slap, bunt, hard slap, and hit. She narrowed her list to Auburn, NC State, Mercer, Penn State, and Virginia, before choosing NC State because of the ability to study animal sciences and play in the ACC.
87 | Lily Davis, C/1B | Fury Platinum '21-22
Davis will be the No. 1 catcher for Fury and will likely lock down a spot in the cleanup role. She has tremendous strike zone awareness with solid up-the-middle skills combined with power. On defense, she combines a good skill set with a unique and advanced ability for her age to communicate with pitchers. She is the starting catcher for Louisville Male High School as an eighth-grader and the team has a great opportunity to be a legitimate championship contender. Davis is batting in the middle of the lineup and hitting over .320 with four doubles, two triples, and eight home runs in 30 games. Her growth potential is unlimited, as she has just begun her journey. During the fall season, she drew serious interest from a variety of schools including but not limited to Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Purdue, Ohio State, North Carolina State, Belmont, Tennessee Tech, and Murray State. With her tools and savvy, Davis could easily jump up to the top 20 in the next rankings.
86 | Nadia Barbary, MIF | Glory Adkins - Locke (Mississippi State)
Barbary started receiving tons of attention from college coaches after winning back-to-back ASA National Championships and was a first-team USAES Select 30 pick in 2017. Tall and strong, Barbary is hard not to notice when she's on the field or up to bat. For her size, she brings great speed on the bases and range to the field.
85 | Key-annah Pu’a, P | Corona Angels Carter
Six-foot-2 Corona Angels pitcher Key-annah Pu'a throws with tremendous velocity and a drop that has proven to be very effective. What we know about the Corona Angels is that they have a long history of developing hard-nosed competitors who understand how to win in the circle. Pu'a is like Megan Faraimo reincarnated at 14U, and we know how she turned out.
84 | Kristen Caravaca, C/OF | Intensity KOD
One of Caravaca's favorite hobbies is shutting down the running game of her opponents. With her 1.7 pop time, baserunners are having a difficult time advancing when she's behind the plate. Not only a catcher, Caravaca can easily play infield and outfield as well. She's savvy and plays heads up on defense and on offense—she is always putting the ball in play. Intensity Coach Kevin O'Donnell said, "She's the best catcher in the country."
83 | Ellington Whitaker, C/1B | Texas Bombers Gold HTX - Burgess
Ellington Whitaker is a big catcher with a solid arm. She joined the team in the middle of last season and was part of a catching core that included Victoria Valdez. Whitaker showed a ton of potential but was waiting for an opportunity. This season she has cashed in on her opportunity. Whitaker is currently hitting in the middle of the lineup after leading the team in home runs with 10 in the fall. She is swinging it at a .455 clip and slugging .773 with 33 RBIs. Ellington has garnered interest from schools in the SEC, Big 12, and Pac-12.
82 | Mihyia Davis, OF | Texas Bombers (Louisiana)
Since taking the Lousiana head job, coach Gerry Glasco has hit the ground running in picking up some of the top recruits in Texas. Outfielder Mihyia Davis is one of them. "Fast, fast, fast" were the words coach Scott Smith used to describe Davis. She's an athletic outfielder who has offensive tools to complement her speed. Her range and arm strength in the outfield make her one of the best outfielders coming out of the Lone Star State in the 2022 class.
81 | Lauren Vaughn, SS/OF | Beverly Bandits - Allen (Syracuse)
Syracuse nabbed a versatile athlete in shortstop/outfielder Lauren Vaughn. She's quick with sneaky speed and crazy strong. Vaughn is a Bandit who is only getting stronger and smarter each time she's on the field.
