College Softball Weekly Recap: Top Seeds All Headed To Supers
All top-seeded teams advance to Super Regionals and are one step closer to the Women's College World Series.
By Lincoln Shyrack
All of the seeded teams may have advanced out of regionals, but don’t let that convince you that there was no drama in the first round of the NCAA tournament over the weekend. Elimination games were played, no-hitters were thrown, and now that the dust has settled, Super Regionals await.
Here were the top moments from the start of the NCAA Championships:
No. 3 seed UCLA survives Cal State Fullerton to advance to Supers
The Bruins can breathe a deep sigh of relief after surviving what turned out to be a wild Los Angeles Regional this past weekend. After losing to Cal State Fullerton in extras on an untimely error Friday, UCLA had to its next three games to stave off elimination. In desperate times, the home team delivered, closing out the regional with a come-from-behind 6-4 defeat of Fullerton in its fifth game of the weekend.
Starter Rachel Garcia got the win while also providing the thunder with the bat:

After staring down elimination, UCLA will now play Arizona in the Super Regional in Los Angeles. The Bruins swept Arizona in their series back in April.
Aleshia Ocasio tosses no-hitter as Gators dominate Gainesville Regional
Florida had no trouble dispatching of its competition in the Gainesville Regional, allowing just two runs over three games while pitching two no-hitters. Senior starter Aleshia Ocasio provided the exclamation point for the Gators on Sunday against Ohio State, as she fired a solo no-hitter to give Florida its first-ever postseason seven-inning no-no.
With her 12th strikeout of the game, Ocasio recorded her third career no-hitter and sent the Gators to the Super Regional against Texas A&M:

Florida will now play the conference rival Aggies—a team UF dominated in three games during the regular season—with a chance to advance to its second straight Women’s College World Series.
Top-seeded Oregon advances to ninth straight Super Regional
The Pac-12 champion Ducks had no trouble winning their three games in the Eugene Regional—they didn’t allow a single run against Albany and Drake—en route to their 30th consecutive NCAA regional win. Oregon ace Miranda Elish struck out 11 Drake batters on Sunday as the Ducks closed things out with a 3-0 win.

Oregon will play Kentucky this weekend with a second straight trip to the WCWS on the line.
Oklahoma clicking on all cylinders in Norman Regional
Like Oregon, the defending champion Sooners didn’t surrender a single run in their three games in the Norman Regional—OU beat Boston U, Tulsa, and Missouri by a combined 24-0—and their dominance once again highlighted just how tough to beat the Sooners are going to be as they go for three straight NCAA titles.
Freshman slugger Jocelyn Alo whacked her 25th and 26th homers against Boston and Tulsa, respectively, as OU won by run-rule in their first two games. Senior Nicole Pendley also went yard twice over the weekend, with her final bomb a seventh-inning nail in the coffin for Mizzou:

The pitching was just as good as the offense, as the two Paiges—Lowary and Parker— combined to throw all 18 scoreless innings. Lowary closed out Oklahoma’s regional-clinching win over Mizzou, her former team, to send the Sooners to Supers.
There they’ll play Arkansas, starting on Friday in Norman.
Alyssa Dicarlo homers three times against Northwestern as Georgia advances
Georgia closed out its regional with two straight defeats against Northwestern, the first of which was a 12-0 romp that featured three two-run dingers by junior Alyssa Dicarlo:

Dicarlo and her hot bat will host SEC foe Tennessee this weekend in the Bulldogs' Super Regional in Athens, GA.
Florida State’s Kylee Hanson dominates in the circle against Jacksonville State
Two days after no-hitting Jacksonville State in a five-inning run-rule win on Friday in Tallahassee, Florida State senior Kylee Hanson went another five innings without allowing a hit the second time against JSU, ultimately giving up just one hit in the sixth inning on Sunday. The Seminoles won 10-0 as Hanson polished off 11 innings of work with 24 strikeouts and just one measly hit for the weekend. That’s some dominance.
Here was the final out of Hanson’s fourth career no-no on Friday:
