Lamar Head Softball Coach Holly Bruder Placed On Administrative Leave
Lamar head softball coach Holly Bruder was placed on administrative leave pending an university investigation.
Lamar University Director of Athletics Marco Born released a statement Friday that head softball coach Holly Bruder has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into possible university policy violations.
Bruder, who's in her sixth season as Cardinals head coach, was hired in 2013 after the school decided to bring its softball program back for the first time since 1987. Bruder's tenure has seen the team move into a new stadium and build a winning percentage of over .500.
Last season, Lamar lost the NISC championship game to Liberty in controversial fashion after the Cardinals' lead was erased when officials called the game due to weather.
At this point, Born has not released the details of the investigation. Assistant coach Demi Laney has stepped in as the interim.
Since the announcement, many of Bruder's current and former players have voiced their support for the Lamar coach on Twitter.

She is the glue that holds @LamarSoftball together, and is the hardest working person I have ever known. I have seen her bend over backwards for this program and it would be a huge mistake to lose her. It’s such a shame she isn’t able to there to enjoy senior day today! pic.twitter.com/WXaQ5eh8F5

.@LamarSoftball would be, is nothing without this woman right here. I will forever be a proud alumni from this program. LU needs to figure it out before they make a huge, huge mistake. I love you girls, play for her and your seniors this weekend. #foreveracard pic.twitter.com/sbszsfKENt

BY FAR one of the best women I have ever met. I feel sorry for the people that do not have the opportunity to know her. She is the heart and soul of @LamarSoftball ❤️?
