College Softball Weekly Recap: Historic Weekend For Alabama & More
College softball weekly recap includes a historic weekend at Alabama and unbeaten Washington holds on to their No. 1 ranking.

A busy weekend in college softball can have a dizzying effect on fans, so lucky for you we’ve once again compiled the best moments from across the country.
Here’s what you may have missed over the weekend:
Alabama’s Alexis Osorio ties NCAA record with 21 strikeouts a day after tossing no-hitter
Nobody had a better weekend across college softball than Crimson Tide senior Alexis Osorio, who first no-hit Boston College on Friday — her seventh career no-no — before K’ing 21 Fordham batters the very next day. The 21 strikeouts tied the seven-inning NCAA record set by Cal’s Michele Granger back on March 22, 1991.

Osorio added another punch out in just a third of an inning of relief work Sunday against Samford, bringing her strikeout total on the season to a staggering 93 to go along with just 25 walks.
More fun for ‘Bama: Head coach Patrick Murphy picks up 1,000 career win on Friday
If it wasn’t for his senior ace being untouchable all weekend, Alabama coach Patrick Murphy might’ve headlined this recap. But the pair of Osorio and Murphy could celebrate in style on Friday as the former tossed a no-hitter against Boston College to give the latter his 1,000 career win.
Even with Osorio’s no-hitter, we’re giving @UACoachMurphy our award for earning his 1,000th win at Alabama, the first ever to win 1,000 all at an SEC school! Congrats!#BamaSB #RollTide pic.twitter.com/K6Z4q2G20f

With the victory, Murphy became the first Southeastern Conference coach to hit the victory milestone exclusively at an SEC school. Murphy has coached in Tuscaloosa since 1998.
#1 Washington is still undefeated; now 27-0
The top-ranked Huskies had to endure perhaps the biggest scare of their 2018 season on Saturday, barely outlasting unranked New Mexico State 3-2 in 10 innings to keep their perfect season alive. Washington moved to 27-0 following its four wins at the Rebel Classic over the weekend in Las Vegas.

Washington and UCLA are the only remaining undefeated ranked teams in NCAA softball. The pair won’t meet this season until April 20 in Los Angeles.
Oregon’s Megan Kleist tosses second straight no-hitter
Ducks junior Megan Kleist has now gone 15 straight innings without allowing a hit, capped off by her complete game no-hitter against Montana on Saturday in Eugene, OR. Kleist faced the minimum 21 batters in the victory, striking out 12 and finishing a single error short of throwing a perfect game.

Florida State head coach Lonni Alameda wins 600th career game
The Seminoles won their sixth game in a row on Saturday, sweeping North Florida in a doubleheader in Jacksonville, Florida, and their 9-6 win in the nightcap gave FSU coach Lonni Alameda her 600th career victory.
