From IDT To DeMarini, Bandits' Sydney Supple Talks Grit
Sydney Supple from Beverly Bandits Jen Tyrrell (JT) wins IDT Boulder and is now on a quest to with the DeMarini Invitational.
The last two weeks for my team, Beverly Bandits -- Jen Tyrrell (JT) has been about not only what we knew we could accomplish but even more. Going into Colorado for my second year, I was more prepared. I landed early, enrolled in a yoga studio across the street, went on hikes to stay active while enjoying the state, and practiced before games getting used to the altitude change. Most importantly we had our team dinners! All those may seem like little things but they are the secrets to success in the long run through a tournament like IDT Boulder.
On this team, we all believe we can make it to the last day in any tournament, and all of us knew we wanted to be playing on Sunday at Stazio field.
Our team is known for a lot of things. First, our incredible coaching staff led by one of the most passionate coaches in the game Jen Tyrrell, but we call her JT. She's backed by two other assistants Meg Kelly & Emily Nagle who remind us daily how much confidence and trust they have in each of us.
We have a lineup that will put pressure on any pitcher as we hit 19 home runs in Colorado, and then added 6 more during pool games this week! It is a pitcher's dream to be on the mound for this team, and I am fortunate enough to be that person with a defense that is as solid as we are offensively. I know our other two pitchers would agree with me on that.
Pitching wise I truly believe we are one of the top in the country, and our numbers would prove that. Reason being we are all unique and give the batters a different look, and we're a strong staff constantly supporting and pushing each other to be better.
Most importantly we are known for our GRIT. You can't win Bolder without perseverance, passion, and toughness. We actually faced another Bandits team in the championship if you can believe it. The Bandits know all three of those intangibles. By the way if you're reading that right we had 3 out of 4 Bandit team in the semis, I am proud to be a Bandit everyday but that day especially!!
After a long week of games in CO, this week was truly the test of grit. Only being home for two days then on the road for another week playing in the Demarini Invitational, we have stepped up to the plate again going 6-0 in pool earning us the No. 1 seed as we go into bracket tonight. This tournament is full of the top 40 teams across three age divisions all competing for the title. I couldn't be more excited to see the run we'll make for it, as we have one last push before PGF Nationals comes.
Stay tuned and watch our journey on as FloSoftball covers the games live!
