Over the next week, we'll be honoring prep standouts who dominated and excelled at the high school level; here's the schedule by position and date with National Player and Coach of the Year recognition mixed in!
The criteria for selection includes a combination of all the following factors:
Langston, who was a FloSoftball 2nd Team All-American last year, has bounced back between second base--which she played the last two years--and shortstop--where she lined up as a freshman and sophomore--but wherever she plays in the middle infield, she's had excellent success. The Tennessee commit, ranked #91 in the 2017 FloSoftball Hot 100, batted .424 with 24 RBI and was perfect on the bases going 27-for-27. She has been part of two 6A state titles (2014, 2016) and two second place finishes (2015, 2017). All four years of her prep career she's been All-State and All-Broward County.
A top defensive shortstop with power and speed at the plate, Lewis earned 1st Team All-Ohio honors after batting .604 with a .678 on-base percentage and 55 hits including five triples, 11 home runs and 56 RBI. She stole 29 bases and as the lead-off batter was a constant threat on offense. The Northwestern signee was the #71 player in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100 and was also honored as the Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year.
Sherrill made the USA Softball Jr. National Team this year after leading her team to a Class 6A state championship last fall. The third baseman, ranked #30 in the 2017 Hot 100 and a Florida State commit, batted .611 with 65 runs scored and even had 23 steals. Her honors included being named as the Gatorade State Player of the Year, 1st Team All-State and the Oklahoman Player of the Year.
