FloSoftball & PGF Announce Two-Year Streaming Deal
FloSoftball and PGF Announce Two-Year Streaming Deal that includes PGF National coverage.
FloSoftball announced Wednesday that it has partnered with Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) on a two-year deal to live-stream PGF Nationals, the club softball national championships produced by the Huntington Beach, California-based company.
Last summer, over 250 bracket and championship games were broadcast live in the 18U, 16U, 14U, and 12U age divisions, which were played in Irvine, Fountain Valley, and Huntington Beach, CA.
Premier Girls Fastpitch began producing events in 2010 and has seen PGF Nationals grow into the largest club championship in the country. Over the course of two weeks in July and August, 456 teams from across the country will battle for the opportunity to be considered the top travel team in the nation. The 18U, 12U, and 10U divisions will compete for national titles on July 22-28, followed by the 16U and 14U divisions on July 29 to August 5.
Last year, teams from California, Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee, and Texas all won age-division titles, and this summer, the championships will be decided at eight age levels: 18U Premier (72 teams), 18U Platinum (56 teams), 16U Premier (72 teams), 16U Platinum (44), 14U Premier (72 teams), 14U Platinum (40), 12U (60 teams), and 10U (40 teams).
Starting in March, PGF began hosting 35 qualifiers in 16 states for teams that want to win a berth to the national championships, in addition to squads that are invited back based on top finishes last summer.
Along with the best club programs from across the country, the event also draws the most elite players in the game, many of whom go on to play at the collegiate, internal, or pro levels.
Thirty-three of the 44 members of the USA Softball Women's National Team have competed at PGF Nationals, including current Florida pitcher Delanie Gourley and former Gators catcher Aubree Munro. Both players won a Women's College World Series title at the University of Florida as well as a PGF Nationals championship with the So Cal Athletics (which won the first four 18U Premier crowns).
"PGF is excited to build on what we did last year with FloSoftball in offering about 300 PGF National Championship week games to be live-streamed to the softball community," said Dan Hay, President and CEO of PGF.
"PGF brings in the top players in the club world following in the footsteps of those now playing in the NPF, in the Women's College World Series and soon the Olympic Games. For the next few years, our partnership with FloSoftball will allow everyone the unparalleled opportunity to see elite players battling for a PGF National Championship and, very soon, will be the next generation of stars on the college and international fastpitch stages."
