The Master Verbal List is growing quickly as 2020s and 2021s begin committing. Let's break down the winter verbals.

The months of December to February saw 490 players commit. Of that total, only 147 (30 percent) are committed to Power 5 schools, with the Southeastern Conference leading the way with 58 commits.

Since we have started breaking down our Master Verbal lists, the SEC has always been the conference with the most commitments. The SEC schools with the most commits are Auburn (9), Missouri (7) and LSU (6).

The Pac-12 followed the SEC with 31 commits. Cal came in with 6 verbals over the winter with UCLA close behind at 5. Arizona and Stanford each had 4.

The Big 10 and Big 12 came in with 25 and 18 commits respectively. Illinois led the Big 10 with 5 commits. Baylor and Oklahoma State led the Big 12 with 5 commits each.. The ACC fell behind the four other conferences with 15 commits.

Of those 15 commits heading to the ACC, Duke and Florida State led the way with 3 each. Florida State gained one of FloSoftball's previous Rising Stars, Carson Saabye, who is also a member of the National Shooting Team.

The 2021 verbals are slowly growing, and the winter saw 6 commits join the list. Micaela Macario, 3B for the OC Batbusters-Campbell, is committed to Oregon and she will be a player to watch heading into the 2017 club season.

The 2017 class accounted for 30 percent of the commits with 146. The class of 2018 committed 151 players for a total of 31 percent of the commits. The 2019 class committed the third most players with 125 and the 2020 class came in with 62.

Among club teams, the Firecrackers organization committed a whopping 22 players, coming in at the top of the breakdown just like they did in the fall. The OC Batbusters followed behind with 19, and Jersey Intensity commits were right on their heals with 18. The Atlanta Vipers followed in fourth with 14 commits.

Not surprisingly, a majority of the committed players are pitchers and catchers with 223 commits marking those as their main positions. Pitchers accounted for 138 commits and catchers 85 commits, giving the battery positions 46 percent of the verbals over the winter.
