2019 OF Stella Bennett Is On Her Way To UCLA
FloSoftball spotlights Stella Bennett, a 2019 outfielder for the 18U OC Batbusters - Lara club softball team.
The OC Batbusters organization is consistently producing top talent and has been since 1979. Former Batbusters include greats like Alyssa Palomino, Sydney Romero, and Allexis "Chip" Bennett.
The current 18U OC Batbusters - Lara team was ranked at No. 45 in our most recent 18U FAB 50 club rankings. Players on this team have committed to Loyola Marymount University, Columbia, Delaware, Idaho State, and UCLA.
One UCLA commit, 2019 OF Stella Bennett, is on the path to becoming another part of softball history. Stella is the younger sister of former UCLA outfielder Chip Bennett (the "human highlight reel"), who was awarded NFCA All-American Third Team and NFCA All-Region and All-Pac-12 First Team in 2016 as a senior. Chip is now an assistant coach for the Bruins.
Stella, who is very close with her sister, knows how hard you have to work to go from good to great. You can expect to see her shake things up once she steps onto the field in Westwood.
"It's exciting to think that I am going to school with many living legacies that can offer me knowledge and awareness of things that I can use to further my game, like Allexis," she says.

What has been your biggest accomplishment--or one you're the most proud of--in softball? My biggest accomplishment would have to be committing to UCLA about 2 months ago. I have never felt so blessed.
How does it feel to be getting closer and closer to stepping onto the field at UCLA? I feel nervously excited getting closer to my college career. I know that there are things in my game that need to be polished and that is what I am constantly working for.
Will Chip still be coaching at UCLA when you get there? How exciting is that for you? I have no idea what my sister, Allexis, has planned for her coaching career. It's exciting to think that I am going to school with many living legacies that can offer me knowledge and awareness of things that I can use to further my game, like Allexis.
What is your family like? My family is very close knit, loud and crazy, and extremely...almost more than extremely competitive. But we are a unit and we move as one, constantly supporting one another.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why? My biggest inspiration (non-softball) would have to be Diane Sherick. She is my Dad's boss's wife and she is the most caring, loving, compassionate person I have ever met. She is definitely the type of person that I aspire to be and she is sooooo inspirational. I hope that everyone has the pleasure to meet someone like Diane, she truly is the perfect person.
Do you know what you want to study? I am hoping to major in psycho-bio, which is the study of psychology and biology together. But I really want to be either an anesthesiologist, a plastic surgeon or a physicians assistant.
What are your ultimate dreams/goals? To be successful in all aspects of life.
Off the field, where would we find you if you have a weekend free? My sister, Kennedee and I are either working out or at the mall shopping. But usually my whole family will go to a movie or dinner.
If you were stuck on an island, what's the one thing you'd have to have? I would bring a water desalinator because you can live off water longer than you can live off of food.
What is your favorite movie? I'm the biggest movie watching so I don't have a favorite movie but I really love the Harry Potter series (not in a nerdy way though), also I love the movies If I Stay, The Devil Wears Prada and The True Confessions of a Shopaholic.
What is your favorite food? I love Chinese food and sushi.
Who are some of your favorite softball players? Caitlin Lowe, Natasha Watley and Courtney Ceo.
What is your favorite pro team? Pride Softball
What's the best advice you've ever received? Diane Sherick once told me that there will be people that want to bring you down but if you keeping moving forward it will bring you up. Don't let those people hinder you from success.
What does softball mean to you? It's a very thrilling and exciting sport. It also provides an escape from any stress in my life and I have met my closest friends in softball.
Do you have any favorite club tournaments? Colorado is by far my favorite club tournament.
