Mia Davidson, one of the Tar Heel State's most prolific hitters, is set to sign her NLI to Mississippi State this week. Davidson joined the Birmingham Thunderbolts this summer and made a huge impact, hitting four home runs at PGF Nationals. She is two home runs shy of breaking North Carolina's state home run record.



FloSoftball: Did you ever think this day--signing with your dream school--would come? 
Davidson: Since I committed so early, I never thought this day would ever come. Year after year, I watched all my older friends and sister sign their letters and began playing college softball. I wished I was in their shoes. I am so glad it is finally my time.

Where will you be signing your letter of intent this week? 
I will be signing my NLI at my high school's gymnasium (Orange High School).

Will it be a big occasion or more low-key? 
I think it will most likely be a big occasion. I will have a lot of family, friends, teachers, and my coaches.

Will you do anything to celebrate the big day? 
I invited all my friends and family, which I'll be having a little sign party/get-together after.

What date did you actually commit, and how long ago was it? 
I committed on Father's Day, June 16, 2012, which was about four years ago.

What highlight stands out to you about the recruiting process? 
One highlight that stands out to me about the recruiting process was going to my first Premier Nationals and playing in front of many DI colleges coaches.

What was the "aha" moment when you knew the program was the right one for you? 
My "aha" moment was when I took my first visit to Mississippi State and toured the campus and the facilities. They were unbelievable! Also, when I got to experience my first Mississippi State football game. I believe I fell in love with the cowbells and the family environment.  

What will signing with your dream school mean to you personally and to those who've been part of your success (family, coaches, teammates, etc.)? 
It will mean all the hard work and sacrifices that I have made to get where I am will have paid off. Also, it is a way to thank my parents for what they have done for me to get me where I am today.

How much gear/products do you have of your future school? 
My closet is full of MSU gear. From shoes, shirts, hats, jackets, and pants. I am a Bulldog! Hail State!

What's next for you and your softball plans? 
I hope to go into Mississippi State and have four awesome years as we chase a national championship. I also hope to fulfill my dream and play in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Then after I graduate college and receive my degree, I plan to play pro softball and be a college softball coach.
