Since July, Taylor Dockins, 2017 So Cal Choppers pitcher/utility player from Norco, California has been in and out of the hospital battling Fibrolamellar liver cancer. We're happy to report that Taylor is out of the hospital and has remained so positive and strong throughout this entire ordeal.

I've started my Senior year and so far it's going pretty good and I am actually driving to school so that's really cool. I even got an off-campus lunch pass! I wanted to give an update as to what has been going on with my recovery.
I had a setback on August 1, and I was told that I was going to be admitted again into the hospital. I was itching so bad, it was like bugs were crawling all over my body, but in my body. It was unbearable!
My Mom took me to Urgent Care and they ran tests and they came back stating that my enzymes were elevated and I would have to be admitted. I spent another day days at Kaiser Sunset.
They did an Ultrasound and an MRI and the results were that my Biliary Ducts were dilated and leaking and caused a Bioloma. This is what had been causing my itching and slight fever.
We were told that this was caused by the resection of my liver during the first surgery to remove my left liver lobe and because my liver didn't heal. A stent was put into my bile duct that will be removed on August 29. The doctors alo had to put one in my pancreas because a tube wasn't working as well.
As of now I feel 90 percent better and pray this will work out so I can move along with my recovery. I realize it will take time for my liver to heal and this procedure to work so I take it day to day. I can only control my thoughts and I just keep thinking and trusting it will get better soon. There are somedays that I wish it would go away, but I always think that there are some children with bigger setbacks and issues then mine.
So, I keep the Faith and trust the process.
The support has been unbelievably amazing and I am so thankful to have such great people walking every step with me through all this. I actually haven't had social media for a few years, but now I do and having the connection and seeing all the support makes me even fight harder to kick this.
I see people wearing my liver cancer wrist bands and it brings a smile, and warmness to my heart knowing that I have many people behind me. I have been privately messaged by some and its really cool that everyone really cares how I am doing.
I was at home one day last week and Jackie Traina texted me! I couldn't believe it! I asked my Mom if I was being punked! It was pretty cool to have such an inspirational athlete text me!
I truly want to thank everyone for being so supportive, kind, helpful and giving through this entire process. I've really realized how short life is and tomorrow is not promised.
And thanks to FloSofball for giving me the opportunity to tell my story; I look forward to my recovery ahead of me.
Blessings,
Taylor Dockins
