For the second year in a row, elite top batters from across the nation have enjoyed a three-day experience of a lifetime as they particpated in the Louisville Slugger Hit Club which has partnered with PGF.
The 2016 Hit Club has taken place this weekend in Huntington Beach and Irvine, California starting Saturday morning and ending Monday evening.
FloSoftball is excited to be the media platform for all things Hit Club and today we announce a bonus player who was invited Thursday night to "join the Club" for a special reason…. she dominated at PGF Nationals, slugging six home runs and helping her team finish tied for 3rd in the 18U Premier division.
This week we'll recap some of the activities and have more exclusive Louisville Slugger Hit Club..
Here are the previous players announced last week as part of the 2016 class:
***
THE NEWEST HIT CLUB PLAYER IS…
Player: JESSICA HARPER
Hometown: Stevenson Ranch, California
Club Team: So Cal Choppers-Fausett
College: University of Arizona
Position: Middle infield
Top honors: PGF All American, CalHiSports.com 1st Team All-State, All-Foothill League Player of the year, Division 1 All CIF Southern Section 1st Team, Daily News 1st Team
Best high school experience:
Playing in the Division 1 CIF championship game! Unfortunately, we did not come up with the win but I loved being able to play with my little sister, McKenna, and share the experience with her.
Why did you choose Arizona?
I chose the University of Arizona because of the home-like feel and the softball tradition and being able to be coached by the best and compete for a National Championship!
What key factors led to your decision:
Being able to play in the Pac-12 and compete against the best! I'm extremely close to my family and because Arizona is close to home my family will be able to come and watch me play! Arizona has always been my dream school!
What's playing in your ear buds right now?
I'm currently listening to Kick the Dust Up by Luke Bryan!
Best advice to young players:
Always stay true to who you are, work hard, and stay humble! Be the first one to the field and last one to leave! Put in work when no one else is!
You won't ever catch me____________
… eating peanut butter!
What do you want to do after softballs?
After my college career I would love to give back to the game and become a Div. I college coach.
What is your approach to hitting?
Always remain confident and relaxed at the plate!
Do you have and superstitions or rituals around softball?
Before I step into the batter's box I always clear the dirt and make it level (even if it is already level).
Other than family who do you greatly look up to?
I have looked up to Maddi Shipman form a young age. She is from my hometown and is a great person and an amazing athlete. She has done great things in this sport and is someone I look up to and aspire to be like.
One word to describe you on and off the field:
Motivated.
