For the second year in a row, 10 top batters from across the nation will enjoy a three-day experience of a lifetime as they'll participate in the Louisville Slugger Hit Club which had partnered with PGF and will take place in Huntington Beach, California.
FloSoftball is excited to be the media platform for all things Hit Club and we'll have more details in next few weeks including the announcement of the players who will get to benefit from on-field and off-the-field activities.
Last year's inaugural class included Shay Knighten of the National Champion Oklahoma Sooners and NCAA Div. 1 Freshman of the Year Amanda Lorenz with the Florida Gators.Who will be next year's standout freshman player who could win All-American honors or even win a National Championship?
So far, here's who has been announced in the exclusive group of 10 in the Hit Club:
***
Player: Dejah Mulipola
Hometown: Garden Grove, Ca
Club Team: OC Batbusters
College: University of Arizona
Position(s): C, OF
Top Honors/Stats: 4x National Champion; D1 CIF Champion; First Team All Orange County; Empire League MVP; Ranked No. 5 in FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100; PGF All-American
Best high school/club experience ever: Winning CIF my sophomore year and then going on to win a national title with my club team.
Why did you choose your university? I chose U of A because of the home like atmosphere. The softball program has phenomenal history and tradition and I loved the overall school.
What key factors led into the decision? Some key factors that led into my decision was that the distance of the school wasn't too close to home but also wasn't too far. I also loved the idea of getting the opportunity to play forCoach Candrea and be a part of the wildcat family. U of A was a place that I could see myself being for the next 4+ years of my life and I loved every minute of being on campus.
Best movie you've seen in the last year or two? The Fault in Our Stars
What's playing in your earbuds right now? Since I Woke Up- Common Kings
Best advice to young players/recruits: Don't ever let anyone outwork you.
Your philosophy or approach to life…My approach to life would be to be thankful for the each and every new day and live in the moment. I gained a greater appreciation for each and every day seeing as this past year was my senior year so I wanted to cherish each and every minute that I got to spend with friends and family.
Fill in the blank: You won't ever catch me without food in my hands.
What do you want to do after softball ends? I don't have a set route on what I intend to do after college yet, but I hope to pursue a path/career that I will enjoy, whatever it may be.
What is your approach to hitting (in other words, what makes you a great hitter?)? I usually do all of my thinking and game planning in the on deck circle because once I step into the batters box I like to clear my mind. I try to keep everything as simple as I can while also remembering that I have a job to get done each and every at bat.
What's something about you unique or unusual that most don't know? Most people don't know that I actually really like listening to country music.
Do you have any superstitions or rituals around softball? I have a lucky purple sports bra that I like to wear on certain game day's, but other than that, no.
Other than family, who's a hero or someone you greatly look up to? I look up to my coach Mike Stith because he puts in countless hours to not only better each and every player as an athlete but as a young lady as well, with hopes to prepare us for our college life as well as after.
Finally, describe yourself in one word on the field… and off the field: Eager
