HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA---Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) announced today the final rosters of players selected to play in the first annual PGF High School All-American Game which will be take place Friday, July 28, 2016 at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, California.
Already considered the most high-profile national high school all-star game in the nation, the all-star game will follow the PGF 18U Premier National Championship and will air live on ESPNU at 7:30 pm PST.
The “East vs. West” format features 36 of the best 2016 high school graduates in the country who have signed Letters of Intent to major college programs in conferences such as the Big Ten, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC.
Leading the West squad of 18 standout players will be pitcher/infielder Madilyn Nickles from Merced, California. The UCLA signee was announced this week as the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year and is the only high school player competing on the USA Softball Jr. Team.
The East team features pitcher Miranda Elish from Crown Point, Indiana, the No. 1 ranked player in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100 players list and a three-time Gatorade State Player of the Year. Elish has signed with Oregon and led her club team, the Beverly Bandits, to a 2013 PGF 16U National Championship.
The talent for the PGF High School All-American Game covers the country from California to Florida and includes 17 seniors rated in the Top 20 of the 2016 FloSoftball Hot 100 player rankings.
The participants were chosen by a selection committed led by All-American Game Directors Derek and Joann Allister of OnDeck Softball with input provided by softball correspondents at Gatorade, USA Today, FloSoftball and PGF.
The final 36 players were chosen from the PGF Regional All-American teams announced on June 3.
"We're excited to present this game as a showcase for the top talent in high school softball," said Dan Hay, President and CEO of Premier Girls Fastpitch. "We've seen in the Women's College World Series how freshmen can come in and make an immediate impact to their respective schools. These PGF ‘Future Stars of Tomorrow’ will be facing each other in this dynamic All American match-up before they head off to the best colleges in the nation."
More information on the PGF High School All-American game will be announced in upcoming weeks on the PremierGirlsFastpitch.com and FloSoftball.com websites.
