Day 2: Hustle City Game Recaps

St. Louis Chaos - Eagan vs. Worth Tigers

One of Sunday's biggest games was a match-up between the St. Louis Chaos (Eagan) versus the Worth Tigers. Things started off shaky for both of the teams' starting pitchers in the early going as there were nine total runs in the first two innings of play.

But that is where the trading of runs would stop as the Chaos took the lead in the second and never looked back.

It was a complete team effort offensively as the Chaos took an aggressive base running approach to this game. They had a total of 10 stolen bases while the Tigers didn’t help their own cause by committing multiple errors that the aggressive Chaos offense also capitalized one.

“We try to be aggressive," said Coach Danny Eagan after the game. "We put a couple of hit and runs that worked on good counts. We started out a little rocky there and ended getting our legs underneath us and doing what we do. (The key was) good defense, good pitching and the bats came alive.

The final score to this game was 15-4 St. Louis Chaos.

Tulsa Elite vs St. Louis Chaos

The Tulsa Elite (Filali) were matched up against the St. Louis Chaos. The game started out good for the Elite as they were led by pitcher Raegan Edwards (13) who had a solid three innings of work allowing six hits, but not allowing any runs. Good defensive play behind her was one of the keys today for the Elite's win.

On the offensive side for the Oklahoma-based team, Kaylee Hummingbird (00) had a productive day going 3-for-3 with 5 RBI on the afternoon. Hummingbird hit a deep shot to left center field and brought two teammates home on an inside-the-park home run.

The key stat of the game was the fact the St. Louis Chaos offense was able to get runners into scoring position in four straight innings, but couldn't turn those into runs on the board. With the combined pitching of Raegan Edwards and Jacie Taber (she came in the 4th inning) the Elite was able to take home the victory winning 6-0.

Gametime Stars vs St. Louis Chaos - Beatty

It was the Gametime Stars (Williams) vs the St. Louis Chaos (Beatty) in this afternoon game. The Stars were led by pitcher Ariel Thompson (24) matching up against Chaos pitcher Emma Nichols (21). Both used strong pitching and their defense through the first three innings.

Stars catcher and Oklahoma State commit Madison Neighbors (12) slugged a two-RBI double on a strong shot to deep into left field making the score 2-0 Stars.

In the fourth inning the Chaos brought in Meghan Schorman to pitch and she was also able to use the defense to her advantage not allowing anymore runs. Not to be outdone, Edwards pitched her way out of a couple of jams using her defense to her advantage.

Stars pitcher Ariel Edwards benefited from a great defensive play which happened in the 6th inning with two on and on out. The Stars defense were able to get an inning-ending double play with the final out being made at home plate, much to their fans delight. It was an impressive two days for the defense capped by a triple play the team got yesterday.

Edwards had a good day on the mound going seven innings pitched and five strikeouts while Neighbors went 1-for-3 on a double and two RBI.

The Stars won a tight game 2-0.
