ROSEMONT, Ill. — Junior RHP Megan Betsa of the University of Michigan softball team was named the Big Ten Conference Pitcher of the Week in recognition of her standout play in rivalry games against Michigan State and Ohio State last week, the league office announced Monday (April 18). The weekly honor is the first for Best this season and the fifth in her career.

Betsa posted a sterling 0.70 ERA en route to a 3-0 record over the Wolverines' four games last week and earned back-to-back complete-game shutouts in U-M's midweek win at Michigan State (3-0, April 13) and in the Ohio State series opener (8-0, April 15).

She boasted 38 strikeouts over 20 innings pitched, including 13 through six innings in the OSU opener, and allowed just three runs -- two earned -- on nine hits and eight walks.

Michigan will host in-state rival Michigan State on Tuesday (April 19) at 6 p.m. at Alumni Field. Tickets are still available through the U-M Ticket Office.
