FloShowdown of the Week: Florida vs LSU
Friday means it's FloShowdown time! Last week we highlighted the Florida vs Auburn matchup as the FloShowdown of the Week and it did not disappoint! The Tigers finally handed Florida its first loss of the season, and we saw the best pitching staff square off against the best offense in the country.

This week's FloShowdown features another powerhouse SEC matchup in Florida vs LSU. Florida is tied with its best start in school history since 2011 at 30-1 and will need to take the series opener on the road in Baton Rouge to break that record.

LSU and Florida have squared off 56 times in their history, and LSU actually holds the slight edge all-time with 32 wins. The last time these two teams met was last May in the WCWS and the Gators blanked the Tigers 4-0 to move to the semifinals.

Tell us who you think will win the FloShowdown plus other key matchups this weekend in our new You Pick 'Em series!

Florida comes into the FloShowdown as the undisputed No. 1 team between Flo's, ESPN's, and the NFCA's rankings — and for good reason. Their pitching staff of Aleshia Ocasio, Delanie Gourley, and Kelly Barnhill leads the nation with a .87 ERA.

In addition to the best pitching staff in the country, the Gators boast the ninth best offense in the country, batting .348 with Kayli Kvistad and Justine McLean batting over .400.

If top 10 in pitching and fielding isn't enough, the Gators are also the defensive team in the country, with a fielding percentage of .986. Their catchers Aubree Munro and Janell Wheaton have only allowed a combined two steals on the season!

LSU is not to be outdone. The No.7/6 Tigers as a team are batting .366, making them the sixth best offense in the country. Sahvanna Jaquish, Bianka Bell, and Amber Serrett are all batting over .400 for LSU and will pose a formidable threat to Florida's pitching.

LSU's No. 11 ranked pitching staff will match up well against Florida's offense. Freshman pitcher Sydney Smith leads the Tiger staff with a .60 ERA while Sophomore Carley Hoover's 100 strikeouts leads LSU's staff.

This FloShowdown could very well be a preview of a WCWS matchup we see this coming June in Oklahoma City — make sure you're watching this weekend!
