One of the great things about softball players when it comes to choosing a college is they often look for a school that fits their long-term needs, not just their softball ones.
Take Kassidy Krupit, for example.
The 2018 All-State pitcher/infielder from Suwanee, Georgia, had offers and heavy interest from over 20 major programs including ones from the SEC, Pac-12, Big 12, Big Ten and others.
In December, Kassidy told us why she “went small school” by choosing Delaware.
She added to that this week when she told FloSoftball, “I chose the University of Delaware for a number of reasons: the coaches, the campus, and the environment. But the one thing that really stood out to me was the school’s academic opportunities.”
“The academic opportunities that Delaware provides its students are tremendous. My interest is in Health Care, specifically Physical Therapy, and Delaware has the No. 2 Physical Therapy program in the nation and No. 1 when counting only schools with a softball program.”
The Hot 100 caliber sophomore who hit in the cleanup spot for the GA Impact team that placed second at PGF Nationals last summer adds, “On my (unofficial campus) visit, Coach John Seneca set up a tour of the Physical Therapy department with one the department professors. This was a great experience! It was a very personal tour where I had the chance to ask a lot of specific questions, one-on-one with someone that practices in the field.”
Krupit, who can pitch and play several infield positions, says the ability to pitch and hit was also a factor in her decision.
“I think my versatility is one of my strengths,” she says, “but some programs don’t allow their pitchers to hit. At Delaware, I will have the opportunity to pitch, hit, and field, which is important to me.
Here’s a closer look at Krupit who you’ll be hearing a lot more about in the next few years…
