The holidays didn’t slow players down from committing — we compiled 270 verbals in the month of December! December’s commits ran the whole gamut from DI, DII, DII, NAIA, Junior Colleges, and Community Colleges, resulting in a total of 52 different conferences being represented.

Of the 270 total commits, 210 will find themselves at DI schools; though only 62 of those commits will be playing in one of the big five conferences.

Oklahoma State led the charge of the big five schools with five commits this month, followed by Florida State with four. Auburn (which had the most commits in November), Kansas, and Washington all had three commits in December. Among all universities and conferences, Louisiana-Monroe had the most commits with seven.

The Texas Blaze had a huge month in December, boasting an astonishing 18 commits, 10 of which were DI. The Blaze’s eighteen commits were double the amount of commits of the next highest club teams, the Arkansas Angels and Central Cal Dirtdogs which each had nine. It should be noted that three of the Arkansas Angels nine committed to Louisiana-Monroe.

This month saw most of the commits coming from the class of 2016 with 90 total, followed closely by the class of 2017 with 83. Having yet to play a single game of high school softball, 23 from the class of 2019 and 4 from the class of 2020 chose where they will play their college career. The four from the class of 2020 are all committed to either the SEC or Big 12.

For the second month in a row, the SEC leads the big 5 in commits, garnering a total of 19. The ACC was plus four commits from November with a total of 15 in December. The Big 12 nearly tripled its amount of verbals from November, totaling 13 this past month. The Big Ten and Pac-12 had the least number of verbals in December, getting eight and seven, respectively.
